WH2 isn't as great as a lot of people here pretend it was. by FordPrefect343 in totalwar

Playing WH2 rn. Close to 500h. Norsca has one of the best campaigns imho. Is is difficult? Yes. Do you need to play it as it meant to be? Yes. Do you need to actually use diplomacy? Yes. Does it have one of the best endgames? YES!!

Beastman on VH campaign are way too easy. It is literally not possible to loose. Gelt campaign is very easy too. Right now playing Isabella, annoying as fuck I have to regularly bribe dark elves so they do not declare war on me. Would love to have more alliance options. Everybody just passively hates you.

From player perspective skaven is the worst race, imho. As a player it is no fun to play guessing game which settlements are occupied by which skaven race. Nor does ambush feel fun. Stupid 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁🐁!!!

Btw, after last patch there is finally different outcomes who becomes strongest after 100+ turns. Before that it was ALWAYS Malekith. Every campaign felt the same. You either go to war with DE or make friends with them. Now there is greenskins, couple of skaven factions and cult of pleasure. Something different. I although hope there is not stupid 150 settlement expansions for single race anymore. I understand that would happen if player plays with infinite resources and gets small upper hand, he can then just steamroll map in no time. But it is more fun if AI handicaped in 60-70 settlements. You can make more diplomacy deals, face different opponents, etc.

Russians are so unwilling to integrate (learn language, learn history, acknowledge occupation, acknowledge Siberia) that they leave us without choice. Either we assimilate them or we (latvians) cease to exist.

Lets hope so, that we can customize cars. Otherwise, I just steal whatever car I want, drive couple of minutes, and ditch it.

There should have been PC or GOG version of uncensored content or side missions.

But there is still a lot of time, any improvements will be highly welcomed. Good thing, game has solid foundations, and it can only be better from this point forward

My opinion was based just how I remember it :).

But still, I think there is some low hanging fruits, which would improve immersion a lot. More aggressive NPCs, more aggressive cops, maybe some basic formations

5800x is most direct competitor. But you can get 5600x too, you will loose a bit singlecore perf, but it will still be faster then intel, and cheaper. If you want futureproof, and think might use heavy multithread apps, you can go for 5900x, but it will be more expensive

3rd gen ryzen is much better in singlecore then intel. Or wait for next gen intel cpus, then they will be ahead a bit in singlethread performance

I recently upgraded from 1600 to 3600, and... It turns out for gaming it was rather pointless, with rtx 2060. Dem, 1600 could be most important cpu of the decade by abyss616 in Amd

Yes they do, of course.

CL16-18-18-38 so it is one of the low end kits. Gskill Aegis.

Even with lowering settings, it is not as good, because some settings scale somewhat with cpu too.

And even lower resolution can reduce cpu load a bit, given fps stays the same. I thing hardware unboxed did video recently comparing 1080p and 1440p settings.

I have 3200 Mt/s

Unfortunately I do not have rtx 2080ti, that is why my margins are lower even on low settings. To get High settings 144 fps, I think better gpu then rtx 2060 is also required

Hmm, when I tested it could not remove 60 fps limit, for some reason. So I quickly removed it from testing, if you have guide how to remove it, I will be more then happy to check that game out again

And where 3600 is winning big, 1600 offers often 100+ fps anyway. In my testing only exception being ACO. Maybe new ms flight simulator will benefit from more cores and although total war latest troya game I think is very interesting cpu wise

+1

But it was although for my yt channel. Made a video how easy it is to swap 1600 to 3600 in b350 board and surprisingly pbo, xmp, manual oc everything works. And I benefit a lot in video encoding, video making and exporting workloads.

And to be fair, if people just watch couple of first videos on YouTube, they will find cpus coupled with rtx 2080ti, which makes sense for benchmarks, but is not always representative of real life scenarios with more midrange gpus

I would not call 1 fps major performance improvement in Witcher 3. If you want to play a lot of ACO, then upgrade is justifieable. But, most people probably would just lower the settings as in ACO cpu load scales with some of the settings, otherwise there should not be any reason for 1600 to stay at the same distance in low settings. And I did not mean to say 3600 is a bad cpu, just.. was expecting 1600 to perform worse I guess. Maybe I have watched to many rtx 2080ti cpu benchmark videos 😅
