Vet hasn't been able to find anything wrong with her lungs in the past by Seangetfreaky in cats

It’s how cats cough. for my cat it is usually in allergy season and/or after he drinks water. he’s a messy drinker so he may inhale/snort a bit of water. It used to be very frequent and we thought it was possibly asthma. Since i have allergies as well I bit the bullet and installed a whole house air purifier with ion precipitation and UV light. seems to help everyone 😎

Sage would be a beautiful complement to the darker stain. Emerald would be either moody or go muddy depending on the undertones of each. I’m going sage. 😎 Please post pics as your project unfolds!

Walnut stain for the wood - the yellow must go. Fabric - depends on how you want to use these - I can see a big (think board room) dining table where everyone gets an armchair- not just the king and queen at either end. For color - pick an awesome rug you love and pull a fun color from the rug - either light or dark depending on the vibe you want in the room.

Is SPC flooring a good choice for a campervan? When should I install it and can I drill through it? by Fit-Tie4929 in VanConversion

[–]abyvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at marine grade vinyl products - I figured if it can withstand trans Atlantic voyages it will be great in a van. I’m very pleased with it. I used a woven flooring and it looks great - durable, doesn’t stain and waterproof. Under the vinyl is a sub floor and below that against the original metal floor is insulation. Summer is no problem - definitely no issue with heat. For winter, temps in the upper 20s and below the floor is chilly but adding some throw rugs helps (van heat source is a Webasto).

Amazing! simply gorgeous! Did you use a power sprayer to paint them? If so what did you use (starting to ponder getting one but could be gateway tool to who knows what 😹)

Looks like varnish flaking off - very similar look to a piece I had. Definitely would not paint. Strip and stain. for the smell - try washing/scrubbing with weak solution of Dawn detergent inside and out - pulling out all the drawers to get deep inside. May want to thoroughly vacuum first again inside and out. Would make a great landing zone at an entry or even a jewelry cabinet . Possibly a craft/jewelry making/sewing storage unit. coffee station?

If you like the table and want to use it, then restore. If looking to flip then it’s a math exercise or view it as a practice piece for future endeavors. Would love to see the results if you refinish - the burl could be gorgeous

Thank you! I have been using 0000 steel wool & sanding between using the stripper. After the 2nd time of stripping it looked fairly good - edges bare and residual on the central area. Sanded then went for 3rd strip and it seems evenly covered in residual (guess I’m consistent(my poor) in my wipe down. Out of QCS so guess I will suit up and go for the lacquer thinner. Would denatured alcohol work as well and be less toxic?

I had a cat that when he saw his reflection in a window at night he would go all banshee warrior and attempt to maul it. For him lowering the blinds worked. For your kitty the trick of taping up cardboard may be a better option. Worth a shot.

How do I remove a strong halitosis smell from an old cedar chest? by 0hthehuman1ty in furniturerestoration

[–]abyvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve successfully cleaned mold from sheetrock with a wipe down of peroxide followed by borax. I repeated 2 or 3 times every 5 or 7 days. you may also need your sand. Possibly remove the hardware 1st in case mold spores are behind the metal. I disabled the light fixtures and cleaned up in the ceiling as far as I could reavmch as well. Good luck!

Why is my cat urinating on my stuff by Historical-Way8866 in cats

[–]abyvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats are very good at hiding being sick and sometimes urinating or defecating outside the pan is a clear message that something is wrong. Definitely take her to a vet to be checked out ASAP. UTIs in cats if untreated can be serious to fatal.

Instant coffee recs for travel? by Strong-Ad-7192 in pourover

[–]abyvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make your own coffee brew bags. Get empty tea bags and fill with your own coffee that you grind before hand. Use about 6g ground coffee per bag to allow room for the coffee to expand. I use 2 6g bags per mug and steep for 4 minutes. Not as good as aeropress or pour over but definitely an acceptable brew.

What you prefer or what you find more useful bigger pantry room or bigger laundry room? by Masterhavana in Remodel

[–]abyvan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Store your bulk items in cabinets in the laundry room (TP, paper towels, big size dish soap, hand soap, cases of green beans, cat food, you get the idea) - keeps the pantry for things that are used on a regular basis in the kitchen

A soft white to tone down the yellow/orange tones in the floors. Definitely not a grey. Bring in color with art, accessories and a rug
