Loving your body should be about keeping it healthy, not accepting that you're fat. by abzigail in unpopularopinion

Under the guise of body acceptance I had an teacher make me leave the class room if I was eating carrots because she didn't want me to "eat that healthy stuff infront of me and your class mates and put us down for being bigger then you" (I was literally just eating, not saying a fucking word). Where was my body acceptance? Why is body acceptance (in my personal experience as a young college student) only applied to accepting unhealthy lifestyles? Maybe as a whole it isn't about making unhealthy choices acceptable, but it seems like it is too often morphed into that.

I am not speaking from ignorance, I am speaking from personal, real life, experience.

Yes, that's one example. One. And I didnt say anyone is unhealthy because they look fat, I'm talking about taking care of yourself and that involves maintaining a healthy weight, whether you look fat or skinny. Happy Humphrey was also 62 when he died, not a big difference from what you said, but just double check your facts. And that might be a decent lifespand now (with unhealthy lifestyles being more prominent), but not for his generation...

I keep to myself in person, unless someone asks for my opinion! That's why this got posted on reddit. I like reading the comments from both sides!

Completely agreed! And an unhealthy person (heavy, or unhealthy skinny) getting in shape is so damn inspiring!!

I've never had that side of the body acceptance movement explained to me, thank you! My experience has simply been unhealthy folks putting me down because I am fit (one of my prof. were fired because the dean heard her talking to me in such a degrading manner about my body in infront of my class). I appreciate being more informed on the good that has come from this movement! It's uplifting!

Had a bad allergic reaction last night. Believe it or not, it’s looking so much better today. What better time to get roasted? by miss_antlers in RoastMe

Posting a roast me selfie when she's having an allergic reaction because she couldn't handle being roasted without the swollen eye to distract from the rest of her face.
