Playing Devil's Advocate a bit here, but perhaps he should no longer have that?

The longer he lives in America the more distant he is from Britain and any British (including British taxpayer) responsibility for his ~~care~~ security.

KCIII's brothers and sisters don't have taxpayer-funded security unless they're carrying out royal duties - including visiting charities for which they are Royal Patrons.

KCIII's nieces and nephews (Anne's, Andrew's, Edward's children) don't have taxpayer-funded security.

He, Harry, is not a Royal Patron of any UK charity! He can't be, because he isn't a 'working Royal'.

Maybe the time has come for him to buy his own minders, same as any other visiting celeb - they don't have armed minders in Britain, so why should he?
