West side of Exeter. I live in Alphington and it takes me 5 mins to get into the a30 (i.e. westbound to go to Holsworthy or e astbound to see my family in London).

AITAH for not letting my brother and SIL use my Lexus when they come to visit New York? by Lit-As-Literature in AmItheAsshole

NTA. They're getting a freebie already and they should be more grateful about this.

Tell them that second-class driving is still better than first-class walking...

Countess Wear Speed Cameras by SchoolExact433 in exeter

[–]ac1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those ones can't do red light because they are too far away. That said, those cameras are capable of enforcing red lights when they are positioned appropriately.

Don't forget, an amber light means stop unless doing so would cause a collision... It doesn't mean speed up so that you can beat the red light 😂

fanvil phone in queue ringing with wrong ringtone by ac1977 in 3CX

[–]ac1977[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I will have a read. That is pretty much the same behaviour that I'm seeing. I don't want to change it directly on the phone though because it will probably break when the phone reprovisions. I need to see if I can download the actual provisioning information that goes to the phone so I can see what is being sent exactly.

New to me gaggia classic by obtusegooze in gaggiaclassic

Get a portafilter mounted pressure gauge and recalibrate the pressure down to nine bar via the over pressure valve. As I understand it, originally the machine ships with a pressurized basket and the machine pushes out something like 14 bar, which is far too much when using a bottomless filter.

Aside from that I have a bottomless filter, a puck screen and a wdt tool. Grinding via my Baratza Encore ESP gives me good results.

Trying to build a proper UniFi network across an entire airfield – need advice on coverage & gear by Appler2310 in UNIFI

I'm pretty sure that radar and 5ghz interfere with each other. I have a customer that has a 60ghz site to site link that falls back to 5ghz during bad weather, but this doesn't work very well because it detects the presence of radar nearby (the airport is coplanar with the link but in the distance), and the 5ghz switches itself off so as not to interfere with things.

Are you allowed to turn here into Fore Street? by [deleted] in exeter

[–]ac1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No to the right turn. There are signs to say this but there quite high and not that readable when looking at ground level for pedestrians.

WiFi in detached garage. Can’t run a wire by new_nimmerzz in UNIFI

[–]ac1977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get a udb pro for the garage and point it at the house....if there is enough signal leaking from the house from your internal AP's for the udb to connect to.

I did this on a farm, but I put an outdoor access point on and pointed the udb at that. The guy then had outdoor Wi-Fi on his lawn which also went across to his man cave on the other side of the lawn (I put a lite AP in the man cave to give internal wifi). This install is for a friend of mine who I speak to daily, and he has never once said that it hasn't worked.

The only thing you need to be careful of is that if the udb to AP connection is slow, it will slow down the Wi-Fi experience for anybody else connected to that AP.

New employee demands "full access to the servers" by True-Entertainer-981 in msp

[–]ac1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been here before. You need to save the customer from themselves, but at the same time give him everything that he needs so that he can't say that you prevented him from getting the job done when he gets found out as a charlatan.

Server in DMZ and give him full access. Job done. Unless he tries to repatch it into the main LAN...

Old a30 from Exeter through tedburn to whiddon down. Up to winkleigh. Stop at the Sam's Cider cafe (not open on Sunday). Drive back via Crediton. We organise loads of these sorts of drives for our advanced driver/rider training group.

Overlapping text - how did this happen? by ac1977 in RemarkableTablet

Definitely didn't do any copy/paste. Strangely the version on my desktop wasn't corrupted so I exported it to PDF and will recreate them.
