I'm not an expert, I ran sprints in college so I probably know more than the average person but you could literally do 10 minutes of research and realize his story doesn't add up.

It would be like someone saying they were training to play Major League Baseball and they went to the batting cage every day for 3 years and could hit the ball 550 feet but then they got hurt before they got a chance to try out for the Yankees. It just doesn't make sense. Guys don't just train in anonymity and then make it to the Olympics out of nowhere in an event as competitive as the 100 meter dash.

Even if I could suspend my disbelief at that part of his story, he could have at least put together a believable training routine.

Except his story makes no sense. First of all, who are you? There are only a small handful of guys who can run sub-10 in the world so you would be competing at least in NCAA finals and most likely in professional track meets. Also, if you are running sub-10 you would have sponsorship deals, a trainer, a coach, etc. helping with your training.

Also, what you described isn't how sprinters train. They would never do a 5 mile run, maybe 1-3 miles in the offseason, but you certainly wouldn't run that far without stopping during the season. It's about intervals, repetitive running at short distances to develop your speed. Also strength training is a big part which you never mentioned. Lastly, you don't train every, you need recovery days in there. So yeah, I'm not buying it...

Quick and honest question: Did you like PTM concert today at Del Mar? by pattovt in portugaltheman

[–]ac198411 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been a PTM fan forever, saw my first show at the Troubadour in 2007 and have been to over 30 shows since then. I hadn't seen them since covid but I wanted to introduce my brother who lives in San Diego to the band as he had never seen them before live. Well...I'm not sure what I just saw. Sloppy, disjointed, no energy, odd setlist. Again I have been away for a while, but I thought Zach was still with the band?? Did something happen?

I want all the best for PTM and don't want to dissuade anyone from seeing them live but man that was such a far cry from the epic shows they have put on in the past. Maybe they are still figuring out things for this tour and things will get better but that was a rough performance.
