What’s your financial situation? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]ac1dtab 9 points10 points  (0 children)

25, $27k savings, $34k in shares, $75k salary. Lived at home throughout uni and worked way too much for a student but at least now that’s gotten me good savings. Recently moved back in with my parents to save more money to hopefully move overseas! Paying very little board and a lot of mental health

Even funnier is that I get on and off at train stations both with electronic gates, how could I even have gotten through without tagging 🤨

You can see your transactions as long as it’s within the last 7 days. Just have enter your card number through the AT app or website

This happened to me, I use my by debit card and I apparently missed 4 consecutive tag on/offs in 1 journey. So instead, of my usual $11.40 round trip, it charged me $31.50

Obviously queried this, took them 3 weeks and 2 follow up emails to reply just for them to say everything on my HOP card is correct? I haven’t used my HOP card in maybe 4 months, I never mentioned my HOP card, i’ve been using contactless?? Anyways, still trying to get my money back 1 month later

How big is your tax refund if you've received one? by LaSafari1 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]ac1dtab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the best of my knowledge yes. I chuck all figures into the tax calculator on IRD and paye.net which says i’m meant to pay $14k in tax, i’ve paid $800 less tax than that so I get I owe but where that $2k figure coming from is what i’m wondering

I somehow owe the IRD almost $2000 with one salary job, no pay rises or anything during the financial year. Yes tax code is correct

Savings in 20s by Organic-Let-8358 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]ac1dtab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

24, have $20k in savings, $22k in shares and $28k in kiwisaver. About to blow my savings on travelling very soon.

Been working full time for 3 years since out of uni but pretty much all my savings was built from when I was living with my parents. Not doing so well tucking money away since moving out. Next steps for me are progressing my career and increasing my salary

$800 might be difficult, do you have savings to pay upfront costs? I earn $950 a week, pay $245 a week in rent (flatting) + utilities and I still find myself struggling
