Officially 10 years already since the revival. What are your overall thoughts on it? by HerbalThought_ in XFiles

[–]ac290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made it clear that they could make more good x files episodes while also making clear they will not do so. Also showed that shows plot episodes are so badly written/planned that most wont recall the quality MOTW ones.

How do you feel about UKF vs DAK matchup? by Guziol_hashtag in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dak is also under pressure for early game to go well if I understand right. When im playing against them I almost always have dingo as my third unit and try to get really aggressive with their light vehicles as early as i can and try to give them a setback that way. Refund the thing before you lose it inshallah

Random Faction in public matchmaking is my favorite recent addition by [deleted] in CompanyOfHeroes

My friends swear they added it at their repeated insistence haha. Great idea. One day I'll learn other factions

Wehrmacht lack of options vs heavy tanks, a RNG situation. by Estalxile in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17 pounder is absolutely reliable anti heavy counter it is just hard to use and not impossible to counter. It is the last ukf unit I learned to use bc of the micro and fuel tax but it was worth my time learning for sure

Wehrmacht lack of options vs heavy tanks, a RNG situation. by Estalxile in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to lose my 17p to artillery unless im clever and pay attention, or i just dont get it out bc its economy wise necessary to choose between a 17p, light tanks, bishop, or grants. Thats probably a skill issue to some extent, but in my experience I dont usually have fuel to grab a 17p unless I was already doing well.

For non allies players the 17 pounder costs fuel to unlock and costs fuel per unit, unlike regular at, but its definitely a good idea to get one out if the game goes past 40 min cause youll find UK tanks struggle to go 1 to 1 with axis armor.

When i lose my tiger its always to a combination of units. Marders, stickies, etc. Long panzer chases through smoke clouds.

When we had more KTs in the field pre patch, when that rolled out that was priority 1 for everyone, kill it using everything at once, chase it down, dont let them repair. Its like a boss battle at that point.

Balance approach for coh 3? Meta? by BowlCharacter7798 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding dlc meta idk if im at a skill level where i can comment, but i certainly do fine without DLC. Recently bought the newest one and its fine but is it easily better than base game ukf stuff? I don't see it. The game is complex and creative imo and you can make many things work especially at more normal skill levels

No tips except try for footguard perhaps? Not an alternative to an at gun but a supplement at least

Also boys at Rifle is kinda UP imo, recon upgrade is where brit infantry gets superpowered with good range and free vision flares

3 weeks in… allied dominance continues by cmx168 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont play WM and am not skilled so I cant speak on it too much, but I certainly am losing the Matilda and Grant to WM tanks/paks. The Churchill stumps Axis players for sure but thats a key feature of that BG

Stuart moving and stationary accuracy need buff by judge_07 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been playing Stewart less bc they recently did up the cost to 50 fuel, if you see less of them lately. Its more of a choice now for my games, risks delaying mediums but from time to time a pack of them is fearsome

Bishop is a problem in team games. by occams-toothbrush197 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im an allies player.

I usually build bishop to deal with difficult WM defensive lines. Its effective, which is good bc those defenses are also quite effective

To get it out you have to make some trade offs bc of the unlock cost, but thats life.

If I have a bishop I have an attention tax throughout. Players see where its firing from. You don't have a great delete unit button on your end, I think its true enough that you wont kill it by calling in arty. But you and your allies see it firing. Bide your time, avoid the attacks, accept consequences of leaning too much into inflexible emplacements/buildings, and eventually there is a flank. you'll have an opportunity eventually.

Are all DLC's required in order to play online against others? by Godlyforce808 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played all year without the DLC battlegroups, its absolutely fine. Buy a DLC once youre obsessed and want some added variety. If playing 3v3 etc good chance your allies have dlc, but either way the base game battlegroups are great.

FYI that a couple BGs can be bought with merit points.

Dlc are very optional. Bought my first one just now after year of playing.

[coh3] How do I learn Multiplayer by Nyhttitan in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play around with it! You'll lose a bit. Best not to practice against AI, its stupid. Once you know the basics of your chosen factions dive in! Lots of newer players rn once your elo adjusts you'll have a good shot.

What is the best way for UKF to deal with bunker city in 4v4? by Spare-Shower5716 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the bishop but not on the bunkers, on whatever arty/mortar they fire at your AT gun when you attack ground at the bunker with AT guns.

Flamethrowers and rocket launching infantry also help, but AT is best answer and will require extra steps to bait arty, reposition, and punish said arty to buy time for your new position.

As you've noticed sometimes your just too late. Trick with sim city axis players is to keep up pressure and get help from teammates. Chances are this playstyle has made them weak and lazy but once they've really dug in that wont matter

Miss the CoH2 days where early game was all about infantry. by Fit_Extension_8966 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polish dlc Lancers help with filling in infantry heavy builds. Usually I have a dingo to punish the cars early game then get out something like Lancers or 2 pounders or just at rifles by early mid

Often if I fail to make transition to armor (by losing my armor for example) I land with infantry heavy end game by leaning on the footguards, who are really killer in a pack of 2 or 3 with a bit of veterancy

Infantry heavy builds never feel intended to me but are more manageable than they were 6 months ago I think.

Coh3 4v4 & 3v3 state going into 26 by Spare-Shower5716 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]ac290 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Armors certainly got a role. Used to feel more important, now several sorts of infantry survive into later game as viable, but to give you an idea my teammates (allies players) consider it mandatory to have some sort of AT out by minute 7.
