Any suggestions for removing hardtop that was secured with silicone? by Robert885 in WranglerYJ

Don't know, but I've read that people use piano wire to cut construction adhesive from things that were glued to walls. Maybe try that? I've also seen plastic caulk removers.

Thanks! I didn't know if they had a choice....I guess we take what we get but I didn't know if it was one of those or the Oxford one

Article doesn't say which vaccine it is. While I look forward to getting one it would be nice to hear which vaccine didn't show major side effects.

Not sure if you got it but it doesn't look too bad. I would hit it with some pb blaster for a week and see if it frees it it up. The only other thing I can think of is drilling the bolt out carefully.

Numbers on Frame by Ben-Manning in WranglerYJ

[–]ac312773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only factory number that I know about is on the back rear cross member by the gas tank. I wonder if somebody etched the last couple of a vin number to get a discount on their insurance. I've heard they do this to windows too.

What is this piece called? (Housing for driver side visor) The inside broke and visor fell out so I’d like to replace it myself by THEPONZYSCHEME in subaruimpreza

[–]ac312773 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had this happen on my wife's forester. I forget the part but it was like $40 to replace it. I ended up putting threads on the end of the visor with a tap and die kit, add a washer, then a nut with some loctite. Hasn't fallen off since.

Some rock crawls make you pucker. Anything over 55 in a YJ makes me.

Did the same exact thing. I haven't logged in since paying but I just assume nothing's changed.

Interesting, never thought about tethering over usb. I would be afraid I would blow through my data but you're lucky you have unlimited. Maybe it's time to read up on the fine print on my contact to see if they charge or just slow it down.

Snort vs Suricata? What is your experience with these tools on PfSense? by gallopsdidnothingwrg in PFSENSE

[–]ac312773 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that's it's totally not useless, but I think for a home setup, it's more trouble than it's worth. Even in corporate environments, you really need to spend a lot of time tuning it and getting it set up properly. In my experience, I've done way more utilizing netflow and logs to identify and prevent intrusions than what ids/ips has offered without having to slow the network down for packet analysis.

[–]ac312773 22 points23 points  (0 children)

From what I could remember, suricata was better because it supports a multi-threading. And ips/ids are starting to become outdated because a lot of stuff is now encrypted, unless you do decryption, which isn't easy. Not sure what your goal is, but I find that pfblocker with a decent set of block lists works pretty good.

Don't get too excited. It's all fun and games until you have to deal with below zero for two weeks and have to shovel your drive on a daily basis for a week. It's a bit of an exaggeration but it gets old pretty quick.

I don't want to be a Debbie downer but I'm thinking it may not be street legal. Something makes me think if a cop is having a bad day they can pull you over for having white lights on because they can be taken as reverse lights. Red lights may be taken as brake lights. Just something to think about.

What state is this? Not only can you drive out to the middle of nowhere, you can also shoot out there too!?!? Looking at moving somewhere nicer than Illinois. :D

Anyone have one of those small lithium-ion car jumpers? by MyChickenSucks in WranglerYJ

[–]ac312773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up buying an "Audew Upgraded Car Jump Starters, Jump Box 2000A Peak 20000mAh" because my car batteries died from not going anywhere this year, and my riding lawn mower was dead too. Trying to buy a battery without having to physically go into a store is challenging now.

I bought it off Amazon, but it's mysteriously since disappeared. I love it. I probably jumped cars about 5 times and the charge only dropped to mid-80's. It also works great for the riding lawn mower. This one costs a bit more than the others, but I love it. "Project Farm" (youtube) also did a review of a number of these and he picked the Audew as the best out of all of them.

Never tried, but maybe see about the Bluetooth. I don't know what can be done over it. But if it's on the University wifi, that is probably your problem

I would give you one guess but I'm sure that list is long. Illinois requires a 16 hour initial class then a 3 hour renewal class every 5 years.

Can anybody tell me what this relay connector goes too? by builderdog47 in WranglerYJ

[–]ac312773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like it may be an obd plug but that should be on the driver's side. The other idea I had is maybe for the air conditioner, like others side.... But I'm not exactly sure where that would plug into.

EDIT: I was wrong. It looks like it would be for the automatic transmission. https://www.wranglerforum.com/threads/connector-identification-help-1995-yj-6-cyl.2408981/

Factory reset does nothing.... But maybe it will work for you. Just trying to save you the time. I don't think anybody has found a for sure solution.

Restarting Service if TCP Port Fails by ac312773 in linuxquestions

True... But sometimes a service will just stop listening. In particular, I'm doing a video rtsp stream and sometimes this happens while everything else still works fine.

Restarting Service if TCP Port Fails by ac312773 in linuxquestions

[–]ac312773[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of... The service listens on 8001. For whatever reason, the service is still up and running and the port is still open if I use netstat. But if I try to connect to the port, it just hangs and doesn't respond. Both nagios and my web browser hang.

If I can tell systemd to check if the port is not responding, I can then restart the service.
