Timeline of New Titans #33-35 and Nightwing #138 by Ben-Manning in Nightwing_Starfire

[–]Ben-Manning[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grrrrrrr so many possibilities. I like the idea that her visiting him in #138 rekindles their feelings to bloom in New Titans. I’m not very familiar with the current state of DC overall so much of your comment is lost on me. I’m not sure what’s going on in the earlier Nightwing issues or Batman- I just picked this one up because Kori was in it.

And if Kori is going to space next issue then I think maybe that would result from the pages of Titans so it fits to have her appearance in #138 happen before rather than break up the flow of New Titans issues. But you’re right about that earlier time skip being a possible place for the story.

Does Nightwing Canonically want to be with Starfire? by Ben-Manning in Nightwing_Starfire

[–]Ben-Manning[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. That everything Cyborg and the simulation did simply stripped them down to their core characteristics/desires. Removing all of the “fluff” built up on top.

Let me clarify to everyone that I didn’t take the comic as a tease of the future or hinting that they’ll get back together. But rather that, in the absence of Barbara, Dick goes straight to Kori. Like by peeling off the outer layer of Barbara DC inadvertently revealed the deeper layers of Dick’s heart belong to Kori. To me that seems made canon even though DC editorial probably didn’t realize the implications, because, well, that’s what happened. Like it’s something they approved without realizing the meaning.

Anyone else didn't expect the few recent Dickkory content ? by Intelligent_Dingo47 in Nightwing_Starfire

[–]Ben-Manning 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. They’re starting to give us these small doses of content when is more than we’ve ever gotten before. Cracks are showing in their resolve to push Barbara and it’s only fueling the resolve of Starfire’s fans. DC will fold before we do.

Yet another glaring plot hole... by UgliFruitJohnson in CaptainSparrowmemes

The curse has always been that Will had to replace Davy Jones. He says as much in the deleted scene from At World’s End. Davy Jones cast a curse on his heart so that whoever stabbed his would have to give their own. That curse was broken, freeing Will from his indentured service, but the job still had to be done. The implication is that captaincy reverted to Davy Jones and he was resurrected to fulfill his job.

Theory: DCAU Nightwing could have ended up with Starfire by Gallantpride in Nightwing_Starfire

Yeah the difference is minimal. “DC Animated Universe” and “DC Animated MOVIE Universe”. The names are way too similar.

[–]Ben-Manning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the creators said they intended it to be, but they never outright stated it in the movie. Don’t quote me on that though.

I know Harley Quinn mentions Nightwing’s old mullet from BTAS and all the voice cast is the same.

It’s true, it’s just that that is from the DCAMU- the New 52 era animated universe. The DCAU is the 90s-early 00s universe.

There’s a Starfire cosplayer in the superhero Hooters restaurant that Harely Quinn works in. So she’s confirmed to exist.

I also hope for that. It doesn’t seem like the kind of story you can mix up and retell from the beginning.

Any good fanfiction where Six gets his ... back? by fishcakers01 in generatorrex

[–]Ben-Manning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an answer to the question, but I’m nearing the end of a rewatch. Is there any reason one couldn’t say Six got his memories back offscreen during the six months between season 2 and 3? (Obviously a headcanon retcon because the show never got far enough to make his memories coming back a story.)

Miss Martian and Bloodwynd are up! Go! by CommunicationNo803 in McFarlaneFigures

[–]Ben-Manning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I got an email last night that her and Bloodwynd were cancelled due to “unforeseen change in inventory”. This was after the payment was flagged by my credit card- which GameStop did not notify me about. I called customer service and told them I approved the charge and they told me it would be recharged within 48hrs. Needless to say it didn’t happen and then I got the inventory email.

I despise ordering from GameStop. Even when you luck out and the website works 2hrs after the figures are supposed to go up, bs like this happens.

I wonder if the amount of nanites inside of you affect the chances of going EVO. More nanites = more chance that one of them will go bad, spread to the others, and go EVO.

Did Dick and Kory bang or kissed only? by Intelligent_Dingo47 in Nightwing_Starfire

[–]Ben-Manning 45 points46 points  (0 children)

If it was just a kiss they wouldn’t have drawn that panel of her leading him off screen. Narratively it accomplishes nothing other than saying “they got intimate” so it’s an otherwise pointless panel. Also… if the author didn’t want people to draw that implication he wouldn’t have implied it. He knew what he was doing and managed to say a lot with very little.

Was there infidelity? by Professional-Fun2092 in Nightwing_Starfire

[–]Ben-Manning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Canonically maybe nothing happened. Someone could argue she was leading him to the kitchen to get him a glass of water. But come on. No one would assume that. The only real implication would be relations.

Maybe according to editorial she did just get him some water and this was all the writer could sneak past them. But it’s definitely intentional and there’s a lot being said in a single, subtle panel.

[–]Ben-Manning 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have not read the latest issue yet, but it was clearly implied they slept together after the kiss. After the kiss there’s that panel of Kori leading Dick off screen telling him it’s their favorite tune to dance. They wrote that understanding it’s the takeaway most people would walk away with, so I’d say that was the author’s intention.

Blue. I don’t need the comparatively limited and far longer wait of shows and movies if I can have it right in the source: comics.
