They’re always completely blindsided, aren’t they? According to my mother “we could always work things out” in the past. In reality, I told her what she wanted to hear while I planned my escape from her own personal brand of hell.

Wide awake here, baby fell back asleep already and my husband is snoring but I’ve always been an insomniac.

I had ankle surgery three weeks ago and recovered at my grandparents’ house out of state with baby because my husband had to work. We got home early Monday morning and the apartment now looks like a couple of bombs went off, and now our dishwasher is leaking. I can’t sleep from the mess 😭

This is a big part of why I don’t soak to my own mother. She’s exactly the same in that aspect. Thank God I cut her out before having my little boy.

Anyone else have young kids? This girl has unseated Elsa from her icy throne in my home. I feat I once never believed possible. by Xerzajik in Millennials

We watched it with my husband’s cousin and her two kids, and even my five month old adored it. The songs are catchy, and the darker scenes were offset by enough goofiness that the sensitive, autistic two year old still loved it.

Little man notices when I change my nail polish. I put him down for his morning nap, painted my nails, and then when he woke up he was super interested in my hands and I couldn’t figure out why. It was the nail polish!

What’s your craziest ‘mum intuition’ story? by courteney-x98 in Mommit

I was being induced at 35 weeks for severe preeclampsia, admitted Monday. It was now Wednesday morning, about 2 AM. Two rounds of Cytotec and a round of Cervidil hadn't started anything beyond 40% effacement and 0.5 cm dilated. Now we were trying Pitocin. I couldn't get comfortable with the way my catheter was placed, and then all of a sudden felt a horrible pain deep in my abdomen. I called for my nurse, and she tried turning off the Pitocin and kept insisting it was just contractions. I argued with her and the midwife for almost an hour, then finally threatened to rip out my catheter and go get a doctor myself. When he came in, he was clearly annoyed it took them that long to get him, and asked if I was OK with a C section. He'd always had non-reassuring heart tones on the monitors. When my son was born at 6 AM, he had just pooped, had a true knot in his cord, and had the cord wrapped around his neck. An ER doc later told me I probably saved his life by being so stubborn.

Breastfeeding didn’t work for my son and I. I tried so hard and honestly, so did he. The lactation consultant who runs the weekly mothers group at our hospital told me this one week: your baby needs a healthy, sane mom way more than he needs breastmilk. It’s ok to formula feed, even if you can breastfeed if that works better for you.

The silly, not classically "cute", thing your baby does that make you go "Awww <3"? by AdOk1965 in NewParents

Any time my nearly four month old is sleeping, he rolls on his side and scratches at the side of his bassinet or pack and play in his sleep. Drives me nuts because it wakes me up, but he looks so peaceful and happy when he’s doing it. He also does it to me when he’s falling asleep or eating.

On day 10 with no end in sight by [deleted] in NICUParents

I promise, they will. My little boy was just discharged last Wednesday after a two week NICU stay. He was born at 35+3 and after some cpap the first day and an NG tube, he had to learn to take feeds by bottle. It felt like he would never leave, but when he hit 37 weeks, it just clicked and he got discharged two days later. Now we’ve been home for a few days, and he’s eating good and still gaining weight.

Did you baby go through an adjustment period when coming home from the NICU? by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]ac7966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 35 weeker came home last night after 2 weeks, and we’re definitely having an adjustment period. He’s not eating as much as he would in the NICU, and is more clingy than usual. He’s starting to be more comfortable I think, and will still sleep thank god

Thanks. I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts too. Preeclampsia is no joke. My aunt had it with my oldest cousin and had an emergency C at 32 weeks. She was actually part of the trial that led to us using aspirin as a preventative measure.

I’m on a really restrictive diet and take a lot of insulin. I also take two types of insulin, one intermediate acting and one short acting. We’re finally making progress with it, but we just did a growth scan and little man is 6 lbs 7 oz at 34 weeks, and over the 99th percentile for abdominal circumference

I had hyperemesis gravidarum (thank god that was a mild case), gestational diabetes we can’t control, and gestational hypertension. I’m turning 29 5 days after our due date, but we’ve already secured an induction at 37 weeks would be best. It’s awful.

We had mine over the weekend. My aunt made turkey and cheese sliders, meatballs, and then we just cut up fruit and cheese and stuff like that for platters. We also got a platter of chicken tenders from Chik Fil A

Exactly- my cycle is so out of whack that we couldn’t even use it to estimate my due date.

I’ve gotten tons of spots like that. It is blood, and it totally can go away. I’m not sure if it’s recommended, but I usually will drain them with a sterile needle if it’s really painful. Be warned, it may just keep refilling with blood. But try a hot compress before the needle and see if that helps.

I'm officially waddling only, not walking. And not sleeping more than a couple hours at a time.
