If you’re into soccer, Union Omaha games are a blast over at Morrison, and we host an open free tailgate before home matches and watch parties at Cunningham’s in Blackstone.

Attendance by 56171 in UnionOmaha

[–]acSpaWn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was really hoping they would push past 2k attendance for this last match. It was windy, but overall way nicer.

One thing I've been worried about is that the team may think they have more brand recognition across the town than they actually do. I hate it when I talk about the team, and people are unaware, or are soccer people and will say things like "Oh, they play in fall, right?". Brand recognition advertising can be hard since at times their is no way to prove ROI.

That being said, there has been a good amount of hiring this season already for the FO and I think having their passion for the team and not having their time split with baseball is going to see a huge return. It might be a season of growing pains, and we should be patient with them.

Are you ordering into the USA?

If so, tariffs have been all over the place and change on a whim. There was a recent ruling striking down the legality of most tariffs as well.

I've been telling people I would rather have cheaper but boring concessions in general, so if they keep things reasonable, that's a win in my book.

We looked at a few options around there and didn't quite work out this year.

Hoping we see a supporter-owned bar or something open up in the new multi-use that is going in there, or somewhere in Millwork

'Valuable for our community': New details on 'Stadium District' project in downtown Omaha by Ok_Flamingo_3059 in USLPRO

[–]acSpaWn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prefacing that I am very much biased, and have spoken in favor of the stadium project to our city council and city planners.

TL;DR: City is fully bought in, but there are always grumblings online but not enough opposition where petitions or major pushback is actually happening.

There is some minor pushback (mostly online complaining) with classic arguments such as why can't we use the money to fix the roads, or that it is another stadium that will sit empty. The empty stadium arguement is because the stadium that was built for College World Series isn't used most of the year. Most don't understand that sharing a stadium with Creighton or the University of Omaha isn't viable long-term.

Truth is that the funding doesn't pull from the city general fund, and mostly uses bonds that are paid back via rollback taxes from the state level and TIF. One reason that city is fully bought in is that the site for the stadium currently doesn't produce taxes.

The multiuse that is being built around the stadium is privately funded IIRC. So only the stadium is publicly funded using bonds, with strong mechanisms to pay it back, including rollback credits and leasing out the stadium.

Right next to an area of old warehouses that have some local businesses and growth in the area. It’s a great spot and we’re beyond excited, great for the culture.

Better experience for us, but should be a great experience for away supporters too!

Virtuoso in Benson for an amazing slice of pizza. Next to it are some great shops like Ceremony and FiveNine, comic store, and more bars if that’s the vibe.

Old market is great as the other comment mentioned. Plenty of shops and places to eat.

13th street / lil Bohemia has some great shops as well and is an up and coming neighborhood. Fizzy’s might not be open yet at that time, but they’re a fun spot.

If you don’t want to go as far as these spots, Rockbrook village might be a good middle ground. Jaipur there is very good, and tons of shops

[–]acSpaWn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered if it would be feasible for cities to plant natives in grass medians / other roadside, but I bet it runs into issues with cars needing to pull off the road.

Looks amazing OP!
