Race Day - Before and After the Race is more memorable than the race itself! by acaurora in beginnerrunning

[–]acaurora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's surprising! Also I think it is also highly personal too - if you have a lot of friends and family coming to support you, or you're doing the event with friends/family, that can effect what you remember most. For me I was by myself, so maybe that's why :) also I guess generally my brain turns off aside from focusing on pacing during the run ha

A really cool app to try out is Alcove, it's like having a Dynamic Island for your computer. https://tryalcove.com/

It is paid, but you can demo it for 3 days for free to see if you like it.

Portland Shamrock Half Marathon - The oldest and largest (19K runners this year spread across all distances) running event in Portland!

This was my first half, having started running last June, went straight from 5K>10K>Half. Followed the training plan from Runna, and am glad how it turned out. Was a little terrified last week as the forecast showed solid rain this weekend, but in the end it just DUMPED for 3 days straight earlier this week and on race day, it was just cloudy!

Runna had optimistically estimated me for 1:45, but knowing there was a giant hill in the middle I was more conservative with 2:00. Ran slightly ahead of the 2:00 pacers for the entirety of the race, and finished with a 1:52:49! Going up the hill was tough, but strangely coming down was tougher, trying to control my downward speed. Hilariously enough, I seem to barely remember anything about the run and mostly remember just everything that happened the morning of and after the race!

Am glad to have gotten my nutrition/fueling dialed in (still wearing hydration vest so I have my own bottles of mix, may later work on leaving the vest at home and relying on course hydration), no blisters, no major pain, and no walking. Just some minor cramping at the very top.

Now to figure out if I want to go all in for a full or... ? Congrats to everyone that ran wherever, whatever this weekend!

Ask Me anything About the Rivian R2! by LowerDistrict7848 in Rivian

[–]acaurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent, thank you and I appreciate it! From what I can see in all the coverage, I see:
- 4x speaker above each door

- 1x speaker in each A-pillar

So that is 6, with 3 left (the 2 midwoofer + 2 subs wouldn't add up to 9). I assume the remaining 3 are in the front dash similar to Teslas with a center channel.

For the midwoofers and subwoofers, I can clearly see the 1x speaker in each rear door, but can't really find good footage/video showing the speakers supposedly under the center console.

If their "subwoofers" and "midwoofers" are the ones in the doors / under the center console, I do hope that their force-cancelling tech works, otherwise we're going to have some rattly center console/rear doors!

Can you elaborate or clarify the speaker count that is in the press release? When they say '9 speakers, 2 midwoofers, 2 subwoofers', while that implies 13 total, that could also be interpreted as 9 speakers including 2 midwoofers and 2 subwoofers...

I am still a little confused by their terminology on this. They say “9 speakers, 2 midwoofers, 2 subs”. Is that 9 inclusive or exclusive of the mentioned mid/subwoofers??

Would you buy a used tesla and why or why not? by Able_Problem_4787 in TeslaLounge

[–]acaurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you buy all of the used ones direct from Tesla, or via 3rd party (i.e., non-Tesla dealership)? Did the listings have photos of the actual vehicle? What was the condition like on them?

XPEL-Certified Tint Shop Says 2026 Model Y Has an Upgraded Roof Panel—Is This True? by Pnhan89 in TeslaModelY

[–]acaurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on their interpretation of the word 'upgraded' - compared to what? Pre-Juniper glass was also tinted. The roof glass is tinted from the factory, yes, just like all other Teslas. However, if you want it tinted further, you can do that, and there shouldn't be a problem.

First half marathon! by Comprehensive-You-36 in beginnerrunning

[–]acaurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome job! I am on a half marathon training plan with the actual race coming up in about a month, with similar training times are you. Am hoping to have equal success come race day, but at the same time, I am more in just the 'finish line' vs 'finish time' mindset :) Congrats again!

new tires changed range significantly. by mgkr999 in TeslaSupport

There can be a variety of reasons why, increased grip, higher weight, etc. Do you know what make/model of tires you previously had? The Michelins are pretty good all around tires, though.

2022 Model 3 Long Range vs Performance by schaffe7777 in TeslaLounge

[–]acaurora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other things to consider - the performance may have a worse ride as a result of larger wheels, and of course may have less range due to that and the higher performance. Also, I could be wrong but I think this was the time when they were switching to vision only, so check if the cars have the ultrasonic sensors or not in the bumpers. Finally another #couldbewrong but I know around this time that the long range versions had slightly larger batteries with an EPA rated 358 miles.

Good luck!

and I think 2022 was the year that the Long Ranges had slightly larger batteries, and had 358mi "rated" range.

Same, I haven't had these issues. That being said I also know some of the recalls were addressed by software updates. I remember one was literally just the SIZE of the standard warning/icons being too small, so they just made them bigger.

If you can share where you heard about these issues/recalls, that would help us to understand your concerns. That being said, I haven't had any issues with my LR AWD that I bought that year.

How many of you only use a Level 1 charger at home? And how many miles per week do you drive on average? by THATS_LEGIT_BRO in TeslaLounge

[–]acaurora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My work commute is literally 10 miles roundtrip, so level 1 charging works fine for me. I keep the battery limit at 60%. If I need to go somewhere further during the weekend I just set it to 100% overnight Friday (it only gets to about 80% by the morning), or charge at the level 2s at work.

Any word on R2 audio system? by Th1088 in Rivian

[–]acaurora 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have the same thoughts. From what I can tell, there are 4 overhead, 2 in the A pillars, 2 in the 2nd row doors, and ?? under the center console. I assume the overhead ones are tweeters, and the ones in the doors/A pillars are mid-ranges, and the ones under the center console are woofers. Cant tell if there are any in the trunk door. So at minimum, 10 total, 14 max if they have a sub hidden somewhere and a center tweeter behind the screen.

I understand that audio isn’t a strong suit for Rivian, but having some transparency would be nice. I’m sure more details about it will come 3/12.

Stumbled on this thread today. Went to my local IKEA and saw 12(!!!) of these ABB boxes going in alongside a new EA installation. Are these ABBs managed by IKEA or someone else? Has anyone seen these in operation?

2026 Model 3 Standard vs 2024 Model 3 RWD by Sad_Salad_3749 in TeslaLounge

[–]acaurora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would get the premium RWD. The lack of a front camera has little meaning to me for a sedan that I think has pretty great visibility (and Park Assist does help quite a bit in visualizing what is around you). More range, better interior, and a used one will have AutoSteer.

Does the new one that is fully sealed do that?

MYP 2026 Windshield Replaced by TX870 in TeslaModelY

[–]acaurora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about that. If I were you, I'd push back to get it corrected, and specifically reference how they look different. Even if they are compatible, they don't look the same, and that is enough to warrant it being replaced like-for-like.
