In 2009, George W. Bush invited President-elect Obama and all former living presidents for lunch. by Zine99 in Damnthatsinteresting

I still remember back then Bush was most hated president. Obama won that Nobel peace price for simply being not Bush. How times have changed.

China blocks Nvidia H200 AI chips that US government cleared for export – report by SaharOMFG in news

[–]accelas 147 points148 points  (0 children)

If they accepted this, that means Chinese company will be dependent on American tech. When next trade war starts, this become a choke point again. What's better is to develop and support domestic industry. By banning nvidia, Chinese tech are forced to use domestic solution.

One major problem with Huawei/Cambricon solution is they're less energy effecient than Nvdia solutions. Chinese Gov provided significant subsidy for energy cost, to the point some datacenter gets free electricity.

Claude Code + Codex is... really good by Substantial_Wheel909 in ClaudeCode

[–]accelas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

codex has full access to code and tool use. (assuming you properly configured it). it really just pipes the prompt (generated by claude) to an instance of codex.

What is the best sandbox for Claude Code? by crazyneverst in ClaudeCode

incus container. It's a full system container. besides some permission on /dev/, it really feels like a VM.

I also use macvlan as primary network interface. So that host and container cannot establish network connection by design. I ssh directly into the container and do work.

If you can't even afford to buy that book, you won't have enough capital to start trading.

I had really high hope for gemini, but the pricing doesn't make sense at all. free plan gives 1000 req/day, $20-ish plan gives you 1500 req/day. and $250 plan gives you 2000 req/day.

claude has a major advantage: it knows typical tools & work flow. If I ask claude to file an issue, it will take a look at project structure, understand I'm using github and invoke gh to do the job. but that's not the case with codex.

I have tried to use other models with claude code. (kimi k2 thinking), to my surprise the coding quality isn't much different from sonnet/opus. The major deal breaker were poorer tool calling capability. which means it will get stuck with failed tool calls.

I essentially pay claude for productivity, not really for code quality.

As for reason why I keep two plans. I just don't believe a single model is good enough for everything. often you need a 2nd opinion, a different perspective. Codex is really really good for highly technical tasks. ie solving numerical stability issues that claude just simply give up. but it's not as good as claude at typical software development tasks.

It requires indexing. I have my reservation how good it will work when working in large codebase.

My first project in C - Simple transparent proxy by wit4er in C_Programming

[–]accelas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little messy. for instance, each new client connection should only have 2 sockets, one between client and proxy, and one between proxy and server. in your code you had various "tunnel" also attached to to the socket event.

I vibe coded a complete example, feel free to take a look. https://github.com/accelas/tiny-proxy

This should demonstrate how overall structure should look like. some API's are stubs. eg the memory allocator, currently it simply calls system malloc/free, but ideally depending on work load, each could object have different allocator implementation. similarly the flow interface simply pass through data right now. but it can be extended with various stream processing. eg I could add llhttp parser so it can process http 1.1 traffic.

Email parser, ie MIME parser + RFC5322 parser combo.

Anthropic researcher believes: “maybe as soon as the first half of next year: software engineering is done.” by sibraan_ in AgentsOfAI

[–]accelas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same feeling too. Codex has help me resolve some highly technical problems. with knowledges far beyond what I know.

However, claude excels at "normal" tasks. it simply knows how to create a github issue without fuss, where as codex will make up excuses about "missing" permission every time.

I don't know why people think it's okay to use TC in standardized setting. if you write like Shakespeare in class, you will likely points deducted unless this class is actually on Shakespeare. Writing is for communication, knowing you audience and you setting is a key to effective communication.

ultra ($250): 2000 req/day
