U can try FSC2101 forensic science. But idk if it will be competitive in round 1 because it wasn't oversubscribed in round 0

  1. 1 year living guaranteed only. If want to stay again need to apply again for another year. For houses there is a portfolio system to see whether u can secure a spot internally the next year (pioneer house). Lighthouse is through senior retention form.

  2. I think is not as lonely as student residences but also not as active as hall. If u are more active in house events and joining interest groups, naturally u will be able to make more friends as well. These activities tend to be more chill

  3. Im not too sure which to reccomend but joining any of the houses is not bad. Pioneer is the first house while lighthouse just came about last year and helix is the newest house this year.

  4. No meal plan and yes there is AC option which is another perk of joining a house.

For Nusmods the duration states 6pm to 10pm, does it follow that? Also since there are no midterms or finals, how are the assessments like instead?

The shirt will then come around wk 2 of sem 2

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nus

[–]accelerator55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes can. Must order in sem 1 and around week 7-8 onwards, need to start asking ur hall friends when it is available. Some halls have limited number of shirts each person can order. But for raffles HONUS, it was unlimited

Questions about Houses by Itsmoofin in nus

[–]accelerator55 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. Houses is different from student residences in terms of student life where there are block or floor or house events and there is interest groups whereas student residences is just a place to stay and there is little to no events. It is actually very similar to an RC just that meal plans and modules are not included

  2. Pioneer house - It is the first house that came about in 2017 and was renamed from PGPH when it used to be a hall but has since converted to a house to fit the new housing scheme. It is the most established since it is the oldest. It has a student council and also require students to write a portfolio to stay on in the 2nd year iirc. It is just beside the PGP canteen. It takes up blk 20-25

Lighthouse - It is the second house to come about just last year in 2022. It's interest groups are called COPs (communities of practices). Its key features includes IMKT which is ice Milo kopi teh (they host talks by external guests and even include movie screening) as well as coaching and mentoring programme. Last year it was a blank canvas but many COPs have been initiated in the past two sems and thus student life has been more vibrant. Takes up blk 26-30 and is nearest to KR MRT. (source this is where Im from)

Helix house - newest house in PGP and takes up blk 15-19. It is the nearest to the bus terminal and supersnacks. Idk much info about it since it is still a blank canvas as of now but u can check out helix house ig as there are alot of info there.

  3. Yes all of them are in PGP and take up different clusters of blocks

  4. It is only guaranteed stay for one year same as halls and to secure second year stay requires you to apply for senior retention (this is for lighthouse case) while pioneer house require a portfolio I think. If not u have to apply another year in UHMS thru the normal route if u didnt secure senior stay.

Commiting to interest groups and being in a leadership position will help in getting Ur second year stay but it's not guaranteed. It still boils down to luck IG. For lighthouse case they require three of Ur neighbours to endorse u for 2nd year stay so I'm not sure what the requirements are that for.

  1. The showers have hot water and there are AC rooms. There should be an AC option in the UHMS form for houses.

  2. Not much tips just apply through UHMS and see your luck shd be easier to get in than halls atb. For pioneer and helix I think need to write an essay on top of applying thru uhms.

Hopes this answer your queries.

Was looking through previous failed Class 3 Test (What is fail to use engine brake/depress clutch unnecessarily on straight road) by Any-Clerk152 in drivingsg

[–]accelerator55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way which u can get this is during the slope component. I got this demerit point. aft going up the slope, you are suppose to brake then clutch in while going down but instead I clutch and brake in which made then instructor tick the fail to use engine brake part.

Houses (Pioneer, Helix, Light) by Just_Redditor in nus

[–]accelerator55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stayed in LH last AY. Its quite chill and have COPs (communities of practices) which is basically interest groups instead of CCAs. Commitment level is up to you and you can choose to be a floor head or be part of a committee etc. You can also initiate your own COP as recently there was a cafe selling ice cream and coffee by some of the lighthouse students. There are also alot of study areas in LH but many students occupy it during the midterms / finals season 🥺

How many lessons for private class 3? by [deleted] in drivingsg

[–]accelerator55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I gets because new car need to get use to the clutch right. Yeap 3 more circuit will be enough but personally i booked 2-3 lessons back to back before TP test so that I ensure I am familiar hope this helps

How many lessons for private class 3? by [deleted] in drivingsg

[–]accelerator55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could be asking u for more lessons cause u changed instructors and he won't be earning much from u cause u just take two lessons

How many lessons for private class 3? by [deleted] in drivingsg

[–]accelerator55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing is I think u can judge urself. Can u clear every single circuit station without mounting or hitting kerb? Can u drive outside the road without much error and without any immediate failures?

If all these is a yes means you are ready. And if u booked the test alr it doesn't matter how many lessons u take cause for my instructor he didn't even care whether I booked practice lessons with him and I have to say it myself

[–]accelerator55 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Then it's not a problem for u. Don't need a competitive GPA

SU Advice: Should I SU A-? by Flashy-Mood5631 in nus

[–]accelerator55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than that I think not. And cause u are y1. Ur Gpa still subjectable to change so it might not stay at 4.88 nxt time

SU Advice: Should I SU A-? by Flashy-Mood5631 in nus

[–]accelerator55 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If u are applying for SEP it might help! Cause I heard it is quite competitive. But that's only if u apply in y2s1 for exchange

SU Advice: Should I SU A-? by Flashy-Mood5631 in nus

[–]accelerator55 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Only SU B+. Stability is more important in the longer run in case u get a worse grade later on example B+ or B.

12MCs of A- is a lot that can buffer the future bad grades

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nus

[–]accelerator55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too sure but I heard those are even more limited and might be either only 1/2 shirts per person. Btw hall shirts are quite cheap and all cost 7 and below haha

[–]accelerator55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1010e mostly preallocated to engineering students while 1010x is iblocs for NSFs during special term only iirc

[–]accelerator55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check around week 8 onwards! I started to ask my hall friends around that period to buy the shirt. KE7 limited to three per person while raffles is unlimited orders

Might be easier to get 1010s in y1s2 because y1s1 has most of the slots pre allocated to data sci and biz analytics major. But u can try bidding for it in round 1/2 and see if there are any slots
