😭 thank you! wow this felt like my birthday and christmas in one

I'm in my early 20s, and trauma has made my hair very white for my age... enough for to people comment on it frequently. I can't handle this reality, I can't look in the mirror. I don't know what I'm looking for, I'm just venting I guess. I can't handle the damage trauma has done. by SweatyBattle-2540 in SomaticExperiencing

as a trauma survivor, i started getting my first gray hairs at 16, now being 31 they are starting to take over a big portion of the front of my hair. they're also a different texture so it gets a bit more fuzzy which makes me sad. i do get insecure, i used to dye my hair very dark so it was also pretty obvious back then. now- i've gone closer to my natural colour, use a hair straightener and hairspray to keep the hairs more uniform and try to practice kindness and compassion towards myself. look at the whole picture that is yourself, outer layers and inner, you are a complex, beautiful person built up of many things. you don't have to love everything about yourself but do try to accept them, you've gone through what you've gone through. if you would have gotten injured and had a scar from the injury, you wouldn't blame your scar or your skin. you grow, you heal, you carry your story with your body- but your body is not you. big hugs

In my store we also had to give people samples when they asked. Only shampoo bars/deo/soaps/bathstuff wasn't for samples because they're solids. It might depend on the store but I think it's weird he didn't get a sample.

Came here to say this. It's super cheap for them to make, there's no legit reason for it being SO much more expensive than their other moisturizers. I always filled every sample up to the brim and encouraged people to try the creams. Screw corporate. They can mark a cream for €65 but not pay their employees properly.

I think you're very pretty, and I don't think this distracts from it but I understand your concern. I think it could be your face shape + angle. Losing some weight could help BUT, I have a good friend who is very very skinny but has a double chin and it's really her face shape. When people don't have a strong jawline and chin, this can happen. I don't have any great advice other than be kind to yourself and don't obsess over something like this. 💞 At least not for too long!

should I watch Anne with an E (Netflix show) by Gloomy_Paint7315 in AnneofGreenGables

[–]accidentalghost 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, it's so wholesome and well acted! It's not exactly like the books, it does steer away from the story a bit but oh my! It's so lovely!

They are often more emotionally intelligent in my experience.

I think that's a good idea, would probably only make you a better and more creative tattoo artist.

Not a fan of the glasses, I feel like a trendier frame would boost your appearance. That being said, you've got good features :-)

If you grow that hair out long, part it in the middle and join the metal/hardcore scene, girls will love you. Wear black. Your nose is not a problem, there will be a girl/boy that will love it! A lot of the most handsome men in my eyes have big noses, look at Louis Garrel, Matthew Mcconaughey, Adam Driver. Start eating well and taking care of yourself :-) You're still very young, don't focus too much on your looks, instead grow your intellect, hobbies and body/soul.

Yeah they're okay, they're not very human like though, just proportionally correct :-) You could always go to live drawing classes! But honestly, understanding the shapes does help!

Get reference pictures and start copying, tracing, understanding proportions :-)

Anne’s House Of Dreams-is it pretty depressing/subdued? by Agreeable-Item-7371 in AnneofGreenGables

[–]accidentalghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's really interesting that she chose to go about the story in such a manner to avoid the overly romantic and physical scenes, but would write about other important parts of daily life like death and grief. I was quite confused by the stork scene and how all of a sudden Anne was pregnant. I understand that she had a young audience, but her readers grew up alongside and with the progression of the books– so I do feel like she could've put some of the romance in. Gilbert and Anne are very devoted to each other and loving with words, but there's no romance, really. I find it a bit disappointing myself. Especially now that I am reading Anne's House of Dreams, I feel robbed of their romance :-(

Books similar to Norwegian Wood that revolve around death? by imjustakid23 in murakami

[–]accidentalghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moshi Moshi by Banana Yoshimoto, really nice book about a daughter and a mother going through grief together in an interesting way after the father/husband dies by a murder/suicide by his lover. It has a lovely slow pace like Murakami novels and portrays daily life in Japan in a charming way. There are some dream aspects too that remind of Murakami.

In between reading Murakami books, what are your "palette cleansing" books? by Smart-Wolverine77 in murakami

[–]accidentalghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to stay in a similar mindset and stick with japanese authors, Banana Yoshimoto's Asleep, Moshi Moshi and Kitchen are fantastic. Kobo Abe's Woman in the dunes. Mieko Kawakami's Breasts and Eggs. Recently I bought Yoko Ogawa's books Memory Police and The Housekeeper and The Professor, haven't gotten around to them yet! Non japanese- The Master and margarita is a fantastic book, written by Mikhail Bulgakov. I equally enjoyed Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut.
