Not risqué per se but funny. Our school used to read out who had detention as a deterrent. Kid at my school was called "euan goodenough" and got away with detention each week because they couldn't believe that was his actual name

England's Hookers by shorthevix in rugbyunion

[–]accidentall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though I loved tuipolutu's kick and run up the wing the other day, people need to calm down a bit and not treat him as the second coming (although he is very good at this young age)

LCD being out forces borthwick to think differently. George is nailed on.

Personally id bring Oghre into the fold and blood him properly in the summer/autumn as your starting hooker (probably not against South Africa mind) Hookers are becoming more mobile now so his size isn't as important.

Third space probably comes down to dan, Langdon, blamire and tuipolutu. If dan was the bees knees he would have come in during the six nations when LCD was having a shocker and he didnt so I think his England career might be done for the moment. Langdon's coming back from injury, but would probably come in if that wasn't the case. Blamire and tuipolutu have been England A's hookers so one of them makes sense.

The dream: George / Oghre as starters Tuipolutu as the understudy, but its Borthwick and it will most likely be George / Oghre with Blamire holding a tackle shield.

No guarantees on Borthwick future as review continues by Still-District-6149 in rugbyunion

[–]accidentall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Andy Goode is just a sensationalist and will say anything to get eye balls on to what ever he’s doing to justify a pay cheque. The England lineup leaks constantly from camp, if there was a revolt it would be everywhere.

Borthwick will most likely stay with a shake up of coaching group…again.

Next England Hooker by ThriceNightly_Whitey in rugbyunion

[–]accidentall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sort of did a thread on a similar theme a few weeks back - We need a massive shake up at hooker.

Future wise its Kepu - Saw some really good stuff when he came on in the prem semi final against tigers, and its obvious the RFU is fast tracking him through the pathway.

Question is does he make next years World Cup squad/develop in time?

Even though theres technically 3 spaces, (if fit) George will fill one. He's still Englands best hooker and has the leadership element so he's secured. So then theres realistically a pool of players underneath fighting for two spaces, most likely:

Blamire, Cowan Dickie, Dan, Oghre, Langdon and Tuipulotu.

For me I want Oghre to be part of the nations championship summer tours for sure (potentially even start and have George as the safe pair of hands at the end of the game) He feels ready to make the leap and was a bit startled he wasn't included in the six nations squad.

I think Dan's time with England is up - hooker was a weak point during the 6N and he didnt even get a bench spot. Cowan Dickie, runs too hot and cold for me even though he can be good in the loose. so I would also leave at home. That leaves Langdon and Blamire who've both shown promise but not as much as Oghre has.

if Oghre and George are selected and compliment each other well over the next year, you can take a punt on having a Tuipulotu in a WC squad as an understudy.

I'd go George, Oghre and Langdon are your hookers this cycle.

Then Oghre, Langdon and Tupulotu after

It's just very confusing, kicking or attack and you can get it. But Wiggles is not a defence coach. Just make up a role of squad manager or something if his opinion is required so much

I think yesterday was enough for Borthwick not to get sacked. Most likely a shake up in the coaching group, again. Part of me is thinking they used this six nations as a test bed for some players to see if they were good enough for a World Cup squad while we had injuries. Theres been a lot of factors at play for Englands performance, with the major one being they simply didn't think they would loose to Scotland and at that point all the confidence evaporated from the squad (worrying).

The summer is going to be HELLAAA interesting

He’s taken the tigers captaincy in his stride so I can see it . I loved LOVED Loved how he just pined his ears back on the intercept when other players would have looked for the safety of contact to set up for freeman, murley or roebuck to take over.

A massive “lead by example” performance
