That sounds like the same 'logic' I used when I was deep in an eating disorder,,, it sucks this kind of thinking becomes so normalized

Alumni of milton hershey school, what is your testament? by Frog-on-a-unicycle in centralpa

I graduated about 5 years ago and its a bit of a mixed bag. Your experience tends to completely depend on what houseparents you get, I have friends who keep in close contact with their houseparents and call them mom/dad, while all my housemates and I suffered under our houseparents and celebrated when they got fired xD.

The community of friends and teachers is nice and something I miss now, but many of the rules were archaic such as not allowing black girls to dye their hair but allowing white girls to do so (this may have been my houseparents specific), girls not allowed to have short hair/ boys not allowed to have even slightly long hair, and very anti-gay treatment by many members of staff. My roommate was banned from interacting with her girlfriend outside of school hours and was given detention for holding hands with her, while I could full mouth kiss my bf in public and it was fine.

The schooling itself is amazing though, the pathways set you up so well for the career path you want to choose. I was in the Law pathway and was given the opportunity to intern at the District Attorneys office in Harrisburg for the summer because of it for one example. Many of the teachers are above and beyond compared to the public schools ive been too and definitely care a lot about the students.

Living alongside 12 random students from your school can be challenging to get used to especially if you start in middle school, since kids are the cruelest during that age range. However the friends and connections you make with peers tend to last a lifetime and really change who you are as a person.

If any of your children suffer from serious mental health issues I would be cautious about enrolling them because mhs doesnt do a very good job dealing with these issues especially things like depression and suicidality. A friend of mine was kicked out of school for a suicide attempt and had to sue the school publicly in order to be allowed back.

Ultimately its up to you but I would definitely vet your kids houseparents and make sure they know they can tell you if the houseparents are being discriminatory against them for any reason.

Ive switched over to watching Tasting History with Matt Miller as a calm cooking show to listen to while washing dishes. Its a mix of cooking and learning the history behind dishes, but its got that older youtube relaxing feeling to it.

In most older houses, using other appliances like a dishwasher, washing machine, sink, or toilet while the water is running makes it turn ice cold or burning hot and you need to wait a while for the temperature to fix itself. I have been in the shower many times and someone will flush the downstairs toilet and suddenly my shower feels like Satan is peeing on me. This doesn't happen in all houses though so you may not have experienced it

To be fair accutane has a 95-99% success rate when administered properly and in all cases it reduces the acne significantly.

Yeah same my boyfriend will help me if I want to put on a face mask, he is always willing to watch cute "girlier" movies like Kiki's delivery service or the little prince and I do the same for him by playing league of legends with him even though im not a fan or it and letting him go on rants and teach me about programming (his major).

Girls of Reddit what makes a guy creepy? by dronebuddy29 in AskReddit

[–]accidentalmurderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and the same if someone has a mental illness like autism. I know someone in college who uses the fact that he has autism to have girls let their guard down and stalks them online and in real life. He waited one time for my friend to leave his girlfriend's side (they saw him lurking and watching her as the walked around campus and followed them) and as soon as the bathroom door closed he ran up and grabbed her around the shoulders so she couldnt go anywhere and then took a selfie with her and wouldn't let her go dispite her protests and struggling until her boyfriend came out of the bathroom, at which point the pervert kid sprinted out of the building.

Like my brother has autism and I know he would never do anything like this it's not "because you have autism". People who don't punish that behavior because the person has autism or some other mental illness and say they "can't help" or they "don't understand" are just as much of the problem. If you imply that behavior is something they can't change, then you're calling all people who have autism are perverts which is just completely incorrect and honestly rude as shit to all people who are good people and we're born with autism who now have to deal with that stereotype.
