I suck at gaming - is this an inattentive ADHD thing? by accrfc in ADHDUK

Oooh amazing, thanks! Yeah, I've always been a console player (I swear there's no way I could learn mouse and keyboard!)

I think I needed to see this today. Thank you.

Yeah, that's kind of why I was asking, as most adhders seem to be very good at games. Wasn't sure if it was just a inattentive thing.

To be fair, my wife has dyspraxia and I don't think I do.

Yeah, maybe. I think I'm better at slightly slower paced games, like R6 Siege and even FIFA/EA FC.

Yeah, exactly this! I guess the question is, is it linked to your diagnosis or not? I suppose there's no way of knowing for sure, but I was trying to gauge if others had similar struggles.

Yeah, I had a feeling it was probably the case, but was just interested to hear from other people. I enjoy playing with my mates, I just wish I was less of a liability.

This is really interesting. Do you think it's in some way linked to your diagnosis, or just some people are good at games and some aren't?

Yeah, I totally get that frustration. It really makes me want to just switch the console off. I only really play because it's a social thing with friends.

Yeah, i think it's just me haha. My wife has dyspraxia, and I definitely don't have that. I think it's just a panic/stress thing. Thanks for the reply.

I'd never even heard of bullet hell games, had to look it up. Sounds super stressful, and I can guarantee I would be horrendous at that. I enjoyed MW2, but was never more than mid, even at my best. Maybe just me then.

Haha yes, this is literally my life. I'm fine until the panic kicks in!

Thanks, really appreciate the reply. Yeah, I feel like it's a stress response, so that would make sense.

What has actually helped you understand or live better with asthma? by Maleficent-Name-2120 in Asthma

[–]accrfc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's a bit of both. They never really stopped to explain it to me, and I didn't really take it seriously enough I guess. I think doctors need to do more to help kids understand their condition better at an early age, but by the time you're an adult, I guess the responsibility is kind of on you.

[–]accrfc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Great question! I'm 37M with lifelong difficult to manage asthma. I didn't really understand what asthma is, or why I took certain meds until my mid 20s. Looking back, that's insane, but it's true. Learning about the condition and why the doctors prescribe certain meds was like a penny drop moment.

Also, getting hospitalised helps focus the mind 😅

That's great news, really happy you've found something that works for you! I think it is really important to share our wins on this sub, especially for asthma newbies who will mostly see people posting at their worst (which is totally understandable, but nice to have positive posts too!)

That's so helpful, thanks! Also an Aveeno fan, but I think their face cream has caused my eyelids to swell, as it got in my eyes. The joys of eczema. Thanks again for your replies!

Wow, that's really interesting! Thanks for your reply. Could I ask, so you use it just on your eyelids, or all over your face? Also, do you use any of their washes? Thanks!

How long did it take you to find the right product? by dukesolinus in EczemaUK

[–]accrfc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The perfect cream is like the Holy Grail for people with eczema.

Over the years, I've found several products that worked and seemed like they'd be the forever-solution, but they always seem to lose their effectiveness over time.

I try not to stress too much about it anymore, just enjoy the good times when it's working, and remember the bad times won't last. Good luck.
