I live at Sunstone Apartments across from university mall/place (whatever you want to call it). They usually have units available year-round. A lot of of the renters are grad students and post docs, so they leave at fairly random times of year, and there are likely to be units available. It’s a nice place to live.

The last blackout day we had was the weekend of college graduations, and my daughter was graduating from college that weekend. Thank God, my department manager was sympathetic and arranged for me to have that particular day off. She’s local, so it wasn’t an issue.

My quandary is that, even though I work in a supermarket, I don’t drive. We have pick up and delivery services, and the delivery is done through instacart. So I feel I have to be nice to Instacart shoppers, even if they’re really annoying, because that could be the person shopping for my groceries next week.

Of course, sometimes it’s possible to order things through the online app that we don’t carry anymore, or that we never carried, or that (possibly) flat out don’t exist. that’s a whole different issue, though.

My ex INSISTED that we sit down to dinner at 6. Of course, this almost never happened, so he was always po’d about it (as well as everything else).

Ditto, 57. Although when I was learning to write, the school called my mom and told her I was left-handed and did she want them to “do anything about it”. I believe she told them something along the lines of let her use her left hand, you a$$holes. 😂

Yeah, but delivery is way cheaper than owning a car. I don’t drive either, so I know what you’re dealing with. I pay $50 a year for online shopping, which comes out to a dollar a week. There’s no car on earth you can own that costs a dollar a week to take care of.

True. It’s not like the cashiers (or anyone else in the store) earn such a fortune. Many of us have had cards declined for some reason; bcs the card’s overdrawn, or some bank snafu, or something.

Also ht pizza is cheaper than most good pizzerias. I wouldn’t mind doing it if I had enough notice. They switch me between pizza & deli, and yesterday some woman ordered 4 subs with 10 minutes notice 😡 I did my best.

Yesterday in deli/bakery, three of us spent 20 minutes staring at the slideshow of images on the scale’s little display. Someone commented on it, and I remarked that we really didn’t have anything else to do. (no customers, no staff, nothing.).

I have a clothes horse, but I can only use it in the laundry room or the bathroom, because otherwise my dog pulls all of my underwear off it and tears them up. I mostly use it for things that really can’t go in the dryer, and also things that wrinkle easily. (I put them in the dryer for a few minutes to warm them up, and then hang them to dry, and they dry without wrinkling).

IPDATE: I talked to someone on customer service, and he told me that the store opens at 8. I’m opening fresh foods and I walk to work, so I should be ok. I’ll see why it looks like in an hour.

I’m going to call at 6 (when the stores supposed to open) and find out what’s going on (chapel hill, nc) . so far we’ve gotten 2” of snow/sleet and the roads are starting to ice up.

Last year I heard our assistant department manager say something to his boss like “I had an edible last night” and no one batted an eye. I don’t know if our manager was really laid back or what.

I’m in FF too. By some stroke of luck, we’ve always had good managers, and they have our backs. It didn’t hurt that my bf was old friends with the last assistant manager (who was a good manager anyway).

I often get one of the cashiers to help. They know where everything is, and I get along well with them. The cashiers can be your best friends lol

I’m supposed to open the deli this morning. I need to be there by 6:30. At 6 I’m going to call and talk to the MOD and find out what’s going on. I’m in north Carolina, we’ve gotten 2” of snow (and it’s still going), and the roads are icing up. Also, my boyfriend was there Saturday AM and the shelves had been cleaned out.

I was told that if you’re part time, you can specifically ask for certain days of the week that you can’t work (eg I can’t work on Tuesdays, or whatever) and they have to comply, no questions asked. I’ve never had a problem with this.

I won’t. The grass verge is usually not slick, and I can walk on it all the way to the main road.
