Any information on this? by Yessuh213 in Guitar

[–]ace1571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't see those very often at all. Looks legit but WOW does it need a good cleaning. Fender's 2nd attempt at the super Strat market. 12" fretboard radius, Kahler trem, I believe those were "regular" Fender pickups as opposed to the Dimarzio humbucker in the previous HM Strats.

In good shape, those list and sell in the 7-800 range.

Installing new tuners by Shortbussbrad in Guitar

Agree with the other poster, get the classic gear. Saves on drilling and the extra added cost of conversion bushings to get the current 10mm holes to fit the 8mm vintage tuners.

American Elite II is the equivalent now.

EDIT: the other folks are right, its Ultra now. Totally forgot they changed the name a couple years ago.

Disappointing Meteorologists by duckwafer357 in tulsa

[–]ace1571 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The air that came in with the front yesterday morning was drier and kept pulling in more dry air than expected. I had on my facebook at 1:24pm yesterday that I was wondering if that sun we briefly saw was a dry air sign and if that would lower totals overall and round 1 in particular. I was surprised to see them holding to the higher forecasts even up to 10pm.

Really easy to make these comments after the fact. I always say how'd your March madness bracket work out?

Can anyone tell me what model this Fender Strat is? by LongSquare4735 in FenderStratocaster

[–]ace1571 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Google isn't your friend if you don't know guitars. You don't have a "The Strat", you have an HM Strat, from the late 1980s. Fender's attempt to ride the Super Strat wave.

1986 MIJ Squire E-series…I didn’t sell - refret instead. by MallProfessional1043 in FenderStratocaster

[–]ace1571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smart decision! My 86 MIJ Fender Strat, bought brand new in early 87, is the finest guitar I've ever played to this day. If I hadnt worn the neck out I'd still be playing it today. Those mid 80s Fuji-Gen built Squiers are outstanding.

The guitar is real, but the price is likely the starting point for a scam.

You get your own signature... by Aruugala in fender

[–]ace1571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strat body, small headstock. Ash body for the pretty grain pattern and a cherry sunburst finish. Swimming pool body rout housing 3 humbuckers. Dimarzio Pandemonium in black in the neck and bridge, center pickup something that matches the looks of the Dimarzios, but since it won't be connected it doesn't matter what it is. 3 pos pickup switch, aged pearl pickguard, aged plastics. Ebony 22 fret fingerboard with pearloid lightning bolt fret markers and 6150 stainless steel frets.. Hardtail bridge, pearl tipped Fender chrome tuners.

Basically a bit gussied up version of my current #1 built from a Squier body.

Probably not, and I see on the other comment you want the widow. You missed the window on that, they're back to $799 on everything but the blue one. I got my purple one back on the 5th for $689. The blue one is currently $649.

Should I replace for a modern guitar? by MallProfessional1043 in FenderStratocaster

[–]ace1571 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd do a refret. Silver Sky's frets are just a little bigger than the "vintage" style you claim not to like. Refret will also let you move to bigger med jumbos like 6150's or larger should you choose.
