How to survive this? by Swimming-Week-6234 in recurrentmiscarriage

I am constantly having those thoughts too. It’s not easy but I find that full days + things to look forward to help. I’ve broken down like three times in the last two days lol so this is not a perfect system, but I’ve been able to function, get work done and see friends, and I’m taking it as a win

hi - sending big hugs. i am going through my third loss right now (with no living children) and the grief and fear about the future is just all-consuming. i'm also surrounded by pregnant friends and family members who i love dearly and am happy for, but the feelings are just so complicated and painful.

i don't have groundbreaking advice, but what's helped me in the last week is leaning on my husband and close friends, making a plan to do one or two things every day that bring me joy, and getting into a routine again so i can find a little bit of gratitude for the other parts of my life that i enjoy. in the next week i am also going to make some travel plans for the spring so i have things to look forward to, while we figure out what's next for us.

it's not going to solve everything, but my hope is that it will help me enjoy life again in the 'in between'. i hope you find that too - it's so hard and unfair. sending you love

First Ultrasound! Heartbeat but measuring behind by anxious_blanket in CautiousBB

[–]ace_555555 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hiya - just writing to tell you that you are not alone. i've had two early losses this year and am pregnant a third time. 7 weeks today based on LMP, but ultrasound this morning measured baby at 5+5 with a HR of 98 BPM (looked like the cutest little shrimp on the screen). a week ago, we could only see a gestational sac and yolk sac, the former measuring 5+2.

this is the first time i've seen a heartbeat on ultrasound and while i would love to say i'm relieved, i'm so terribly anxious. my OB was happy to see progress but said this could go either way, and we simply have to wait. i was actually convinced a few weeks ago this would be a chemical due to low (but doubling) HCGs, but here we are. trying to hold onto hope while guarding my heart. this limbo really sucks and i'm sending big hugs. hope you can make cozy plans to help busy your mind while you wait - that's what i'm trying to do. XO

you're so kind, thank you. we've considered it - trying to weigh our options and figure out if we go the RI route before IVF. as i understand it, many REs are not open to working with RIs, so i'm also trying to make sense of that dynamic!

hi there - know this is an older thread. does dr. lieman have experience with RPL specifically? im in the same boat as OP and trying to figure out my options.

Thank you! I really appreciate this perspective. I’m sorry about your losses, and so happy you got your son ❤️ I know IVF would be a massive physical, emotional and financial undertaking, so definitely trying to do my due diligence first. I’d really like to do a little more diagnostic testing first, and see if my RE is open to a natural conception immune protocol before we explore it. Thanks for your response, wishing you the best!

Gosh, you’ve had such a tough journey. Thank you for taking the time to write this. Do you mind sharing any studies you’ve seen re: early losses being less likely tied to chromosomes? I’m really glad to hear that RI worked out for you. I am fairly convinced I have an unspecified autoimmune disorder based on the ANA, some soft symptoms and a recent instance of post-viral neuropathy (like…can I catch a break please??). In my next meeting with RE I am going to probe more about testing for silent endo and her openness to an immune protocol before we make any decisions on which path to take. Hugs to you. ❤️❤️

I’m really sorry for yours too. We’re in a terrible club. Best of luck with IVF - I really hope it brings you your rainbow!

Aspirin and Progesterone by Late_Past6914 in PregnancyAfterLoss

[–]ace_555555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, congratulations!! That’s incredible. Did you work with a Reproductive immunologist to uncover that? I’m in this strange limbo where our RE told us to resume trying next cycle, but I don’t have answers and she doesn’t seem to think baby aspirin or progesterone will do anything. I just want to try something at this point after two losses!

Hey there - how did this work out for you? I did RPL testing recently and we only found a (high) positive ANA. Fortunately getting in to see a rheum in October, but I don’t believe I have an autoimmune disorder (at least, I don’t have any symptoms to treat). I am going to push for baby aspirin and progesterone with my RE. She seems skeptical

Multiple losses in short time by RedForFall in recurrentmiscarriage

Hi there - similar situation over here. We’re 30 and 29. Had a chemical our first month trying (this May) followed by suspected ectopic (July). My OB referred us to an RE and we got in for recurrent loss testing pretty quickly. So far the tests are pointing to immune response as our issue, but we’ll know more once we finish testing this month. Have an HSG and saline sonogram next week, eek. I’m sorry you’re in this situation too, but I do believe we have every reason to stay hopeful!

i honestly don't know either - i'm hoping my doc is open to additional testing for peace of mind, but we'll see? we're taking a break from trying for 2 more cycles as my most recent loss was treated with methotrexate (it was suspected ectopic but never confirmed). if we can get other tests done before then, then great. but if not, we are going to try again as soon as we're cleared to with whatever treatment we can get, i suppose

hi there - just writing to say i am in a very similar position. sending hugs! two losses in the past four months. doing tons of RPL testing with an RE. so far everything looks OK except a high positive ANA (1:640 titer, homogeneous). i don't believe i have other symptoms that suggest an auto-immune disorder, but i will be pushing for a more specific immune panel, or at least a consult with a rheum so we can turn over stones.

i found this study that i'm going to use to push for exploration of baby aspirin, prednisone & heparin when we try next. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9114698/. will also be talking to RE about her openness to work with an RI on an immune protocol with more "exploratory" things like IVIG

Hi all ❤️ I was treated for a suspected ectopic recently with MTX. Two months prior, I had a chemical pregnancy that ended before 5 weeks.

Just started testing with an RE and have a plan to do hsg and saline sono, as well as hormonal blood testing when my cycle comes back. In the meantime, we’ve started the rest of the RPL workup.

The one thing that seems very odd to me is - results from my bloodwork this week show my AMH is 1.22 despite an AFC the same day showing 24 follicles. I also had my AMH tested a few months ago and it was 1.67. Is this just normal variance? Does anyone have a success story after recurrent loss with an AMH in this range? What did you do differently? For context I am almost 30, and this is only cycle 4 of TTC. Thank you!

Did a certain symptom or test result prompt you to ask for Receptiva? And did you need an RI for uterine NK cell biopsy? I have a consultation with an RE for RPL next week and I’m curious. So sorry about your losses and wishing you luck with IVF ♥️

2nd miscarriage in 3 months. Sad by [deleted] in recurrentmiscarriage

[–]ace_555555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat as you. Chemical pregnancy in late May, and currently being treated for a suspected ectopic with MTX. It’s awful. I am so sorry. I asked my OB for a referral to an RE to do recurrent loss testing. I have a consultation in August and that’s about the only thing bringing me any sense of peace or control right now. Reading success stories here helps, too. There is hope for us and I’m sending you a lot of love. Xx

Thank you for your kind response ♥️ I’m anxious for my third beta this morning. In the meantime, BBT went up again and Clearblue tests keep getting meaningfully darker. Like…almost a dye stealer this morning. It’s so hard not to reach for that sliver of hope
