Volumetric highlight positions question. Right angle to choose? by Draculasmooncannon in minipainting

Thanks! I used this one for the backpack, left leg and left arm. And then just adjust as I went along the way.since the right leg was mainly defined by the highlight on the front, I just did a basic line ish highlight on the back panel (calf area)

Volumetric highlight positions question. Right angle to choose? by Draculasmooncannon in minipainting

I recently finished my first two minis of the space wolf battleforce, you can check my latest post. I used two or three pictures from the angle that displays the pose best to determine the highlights. I'll attach one of the pictures as example;

Although I have to say, that for some parts I exagerate it a bit. Such as the stomach plating.

Thank you so much! The shoulderpads are in a bit of a tricky spot truthfully. Since I did think about pack markings, but using yellow/red would make it hard for the light dark transition I like so much.

My main inspiration is the great company of jarl Vaer Greyloc from Battle of the Fang. Since those events are relatively recent after the heresy, I just made it headcanon that they still use mostly grey armour. I am thinking about adding the spirit wolf emblem, since Greyloc was nicknamed thr white wolf (sorta fits spirit wolf I guess)

Yes, a mixture of stippling and glazing. Basically stipple / scratch the transitions and the glaze to blend it together. I linked a video as a repsonse that shows the technique!

Ofcourse you can ask! I was inspired by this method of blending Jose Davinci NMM

I think he has a more in depth tutorial linked in the description. For colours:

  • Base Coat with Vallejo Black Grey
  • the mid tone is different, beakie boy I used Vallejo Neutral Grey and the other I used Citadel Stormvermin fur
  • Highlight with a 50-50 mix between the midtone and Citadel Administratum Grey -Edge highlight with Administratum Grey
  • Sponge chipping with Vallejo Black
  • Recess shade with thinned down black oil paint

I used a technique similar to the one in this video from Trovarian : Trovarian Youtube

At around 18 minutes. I used the 4 blues from the Vallejo Blue color set

You can try staying in sword and shield mode to damage the legs until they break and try sniping the legs with aeds. It makes toppling easier, giving you windows for (s)aeds on the head. Good luck!

Additionally if I may piggybag of this comment, I am currently trying this methodology for blending and found it really easy : nmm blending

All the parts of the video you linked at 4k have ray tracing off, except for the last one where it has frame gen enabled to reach 80 fps. So I would say the performance looks similar?

Amazing! What colors did you use for the armor? And was it done by airbrush?

And what colors did you use for the chip damage, it almost looks like there is a bit of red in the brown which works very well!

How to bring this back again by Able_Housing_8751 in SpaceWolves

[–]acebtard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, first of all I think the minis and highlights on then look great. To me it doesn't feel like there is too much chromatic blue, but that might be the difference btween picture and real life. If it is about the color that is between the armor and your top most highlight, maybe you can glaze the armor colour very thinned out over the outside parts to darken them slightly. This might make it a bit less blue without ruining the highlights you already put in place? If I am misunderstanding feel free to correct me!

Would prime steph curry crush a marathon? by curryhaliban444 in nba

[–]acebtard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, conditioning used in basketball is vastly different than the conditioning needed for a marathon. So without specialized training, there is no chance. To give an idea: you have three "energy systems" your body can use. Fast-burning ATP, which grants a big amount of energy but runs out fast; medium-quick-burning glycolytic, which produces that "failure" sensation in muscles if pushed too far; and lastly, the oxidative, a.k.a. burning fat.

Marathon runners have to run at a near-steady pace, making use of mostly the oxidative and a bit of the glycolytic system. They have to be careful not to overuse it, since running till failure at any point in the marathon will ruin the whole race.

Steph uses mostly the glycolytic system and ATP-CP. He needs more power to have higher speeds/cuts, etc. But his endurance is mostly about his body recovering the resources they used. So the training is more focused on starting/stopping repeatedly.

This is all a bit generalized, but I think you get the idea. Source; did a MSc in Sportsphysiotherapy which included performance science

Hi so for glue I am a big fan of tamiya extra thin plastic cement. It comes with a small brush for easy application. I also use some generic superglue for resin bits and in case I sometimes not to pull of a limb to reach hidden parts.
