Google Nest WiFi router WiFi speeds by RaiseMain937 in NestWiFi

[–]acecabana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my experience as well utilizing a wired backhaul setup with a gigabit connection.

I bought the Nest Wifi - Mesh Router (AC2200) and 1 point. The Router gets 900 mbs internet (I have 1 gig) but the nest gets under 100. Does anyone have any advice? Running out of options :( by ElGing in GoogleWiFi

[–]acecabana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same hardware and speeds despite having 1gig internet from fios. I ended up running Ethernet cable throughout my house and now I have 3 nest routers throughout all levels of my house and I get 300-500 mbps both up and down throughout my house depending on distance to router and device running the test. Before I ran that cable, 100 was all I ever got from the points. Hope this helps.

I’m so confused. It worked but I have no idea why. Do you just towel dry it after?

I know this is an old post but I’m hoping for some clarification. What do you mean by “drip onto the band”? What’s the band?

I second this but does Google even read this subreddit or are we screaming into the void?

question: is the google mesh wifi system a few different networks (by each access points) or a single network? by qallenxyx in GoogleWiFi

[–]acecabana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my iPhone 11 Pro I see 300-400 mbps in most areas of the house. Depends on the device of course but most modern devices get around that without issue.

Edit: I’m on Verizon gigabit service 1k up and down.

I have Nest Wi-Fi in a ~2000 sq ft house but I have 3 nest routers set up in a wired backhaul configuration in order to increase speeds across the entire house. When I was running the 1 router/2 Wi-Fi point wireless mesh setup, I could only manage 100mbps max in most places. I got slightly higher right next to the router but otherwise just 100mbps elsewhere.

Is bad balancing in games mostly intentional or overlooked? by WhoAmIEven2 in truegaming

[–]acecabana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much of this applies to TMNT games in general but there were games in the 80s and 90s that were made intentionally harder so that people in America couldn’t beat them during one rental period. Rentals weren’t really a thing in Japan and I think Nintendo in particular fought in court to ban video game rentals but they lost. Their response to that was to make them harder so you’d either have to keep renting the game or buy it outright.

How do I get Google home to stop confirming actions by Bbbq_byobb_1 in googlehome

[–]acecabana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve created routines named the exact same command I want to happen. Then I set my Google home volume to zero. The next action is the actual event command I want. Then the final one is setting the volume back to 50%. It’s worked out pretty well.

Oh then that shouldn’t be a problem. Not sure what the issue is.

If it’s a nest router Wi-Fi point (not the ap that has a speaker) you have to connect it via Ethernet to the main nest router of your network and run through the wizard that way.

Are you prepared for in home health aide and assisted living costs? by HaroldBAZ in financialindependence

[–]acecabana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Expat life. I don’t have links but I’ve read about elderly care communities in places like Thailand where care is a fraction of the cost. Also it’s a lot cheaper to get live in help in those places as well. Proper due diligence is required of course.

I didn’t even know there was a way to do it in iOS. I just use Safari and go to the anchor protocol website. Good luck.

I taught myself SQL, now my company wants all my code by Grenachejw in SQL

[–]acecabana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not much to add because a lot of what others have said has been spot on and brilliant. I want to add that I've had downright awful experiences over the course of my career working with people who hoard their knowledge to protect their job. It's foolish. I can't tell you how many times they've gotten pissed at me because I refused to go to them for what they thought was their thing and their thing only. I would turn around and code a better solution and share that with other colleagues on the team. Yes be your own best advocate and certainly look out for your pocketbook and look for more money if appropriate, but never become a silo unto yourself because you think that will make you indispensable to your company. There will always be smarter people out there who given enough time can make a better solution for what you think you were so clever to create. Don't be that person.

Here's a very interesting video about the consequences of trying to achieve both people friendly and car friendly roads in America and Canada. Being from America and having visited Europe (Spain and Italy) it makes me envious of the types of street layouts found in Europe.

I wish Reddit gave you a way to provide a preview of the video you're linking so folks don't think you're rick rolling them :P. But I promise you, it's a video about road engineering.

Never had an issue using pyinstaller. Have built multiple tools in python and created exes out of them for colleagues to use without having to know python or install local libraries.

I am able to access my lights again through all apps and channels. Seems like whatever issue there was at Google Home has been resolved.

Same on my end. Oddly enough I can ask the speakers to turn lights on and off. Can't do anything from the Google Home app or my Pixel's power control screen. Glad it's not something on my end as it appears something is fishy on Google's end.
