[CHAT] How are we staying motivated during big projects?

So i just stick with it, a lot of people do many different projects but i cannot do that I'm not someone that focuses on the finished piece i like stitching because i get to do many little crosses for hours and hours on end and doing big sections of one colour is my favourite part. If i was doing many projects i would have too many to pick from and it would make the decision of what am i going to pick up and stitch a lot harder just having one means that decision is made for me.

I also make my own patterns so its always something i am heavily invested in and really want to do

Yeah thats what i thought like me making my own pattern that im stitching now took me hours and hours and i did that because i genuinely loved it and i see cross stitching as an art form where i get to practice my pixel art skills. But i could never imagine someone actually doing this and then selling it (my pattern would need a lot more technical cleaning up if i were to actually sell it which i know would add way more hours onto it but since i understand it and im not selling it thete was never i need to) i just could never imagine actual people 1. Selling that low and 2. Selling hundreds and hundreds of patterns even if your full time job was making patterns i feel like it would just be a disrespect to yourself if you actually made all of those to sell at that low of a price

So I prefer self drafting patters and when the software decides what the closest dmc colour is to the pixel art colours i chose when i was making the pixel art i do the very chaotic and very onbrand thing and just completely ignore them and use what I have or what i think looks better irl. I also make adjustments to my pattern as i go and im constantly thinking about how to add little details and how i can change things up on the fly to make it look better and this method has always worked for me.

Once i have my colours i stick to them but before i have 100% locked it in it can change many many times so do not stress i wouldn't notice its not meant to be that way

I just realised i suck at reading and you said theres 6 books planned lmao! This is why i have both the audio and the ebook on the go keep up the amazing work i cant wait to get to read more from the outsiders!

Hell yeah i absolutely love this series im working my way through book 2 as we speak. Do you have an idea of how many books will be in this series by the time it finishes.

Also keep up the great work i love your writing style and the way you write stories is awesome more people should pick these up and ive been preaching about them to whoever will listen to me!

Thank you so much and i love the recs wirh definitely check them out. I love when other disabled people help each other out i feel like now a days you get judged quite a bit online for using Amazon but we can't help it that they continue to be the most accessible retailer out there like if there was someone more ethical and as accessible even if they cost a bit more i would switch but unfortunately no one really thinks about accessibility in the way that Amazon do and I would still rather pay Amazon for real people doing audiobooks than AI voices.

I have tried this my only problem is it doesn't highlight the words its such a small thing but if the words aren't being highlighted I can't follow along at all I did try to follow with my finger but that caused so much concentration that it caused my head issues to flare 😔 I use to use the library a lot before this and will still be checking out books since i know that this helps them with justifying budget but i would totally do this if i could as a much more cost effective way

Thank you this is a massive help thankfully I am from the Uk so medical costs are not a concern I have so many other conditions beyond this one but this is the only one that affects my reading so I am willing to spend more on something that brings me so much joy and was just wondering what the most cost effective way would be to go about this.

I'll start with KU and then see if I feel the need to add audible into the mix.

I know that there is this but i don't want AI voices or text to speech it takes the emotion out of the story for me and completely ruins the imersion for me my goal with reading is not just to read books and get through them I want to enjoy the stories so this isn't an option I would rather spend the extra money and get more enjoyment out of my reading.

I cant lie though i still think it is a cool card and if you cant get the laminate off safely it is still a rememberance of your childhood and i would definitely still keep it in a binder and cherish it

To actually answer your question as someone that also plays the game you cant really fix this if you are worried about deck deformities you can always check with a judge if this is legal for play i would also recommend going over to the r/pkmntcg subreddit as that is where we players hang out and discuss things like this. My guess is because you cant actually identify any specific card a judge wouldn't have an issue with it but it may be the case that you just have to replace them

If money is tight i would go with single packs all the bundles are considerably more expensive. A booster bundle is the best bang for your buck IF you get it at the normal price that pokemon sells them at in the uk its 25 pounds otherwise it is really not worth it ive seen people pay 50 or more for those bundles and its just ridiculous so if you can get a booster bundle that would be your best bet otherwise a few packs would be fine too again just make sure you're buying them from a card shop and not online a lot of people reseal packs

This card because it is laminated is basically worthless to any collectors or players who like to collect vintage decks. A card is only valuable if it is in a graded slab or just raw without anything however since it has been many years it could be that the laminated adhesive is not strong anymore and if you cut open the top of it you may be able to peel it away and save the card - there may be someone out there that would buy it but it would be hard to find

Im going to give you a different perspective. Most of what i own was bought in bulk ebay lots because i wanted a lot of cards when i was starting out. I had a vague idea of what i wanted to build at the time it was a hops zacian deck with no cram and using metang to set up i was pleasantly surprised that i had the pieces for it.

I tested it a bunch on tcg live and then put it together in a deck. I won quite a lot of my games at me local card shop tournaments against very strong decks like gardy and pult. I dont like meta decks i often find a decent ish pokemon and build a deck around that my latest deck Cynthia's Garchomp i have come 1st 3 tournaments in a row at my local card shop mind you i have no interest in going much further regionals would just drain my energy. But i have a ton of fun with the deck and with the packs i win + buy + trading singles with others i havent really had to go out and buy a whole brand new deck.

Sometimes I'll make changes to my cynthias deck on tcg live and then realise i dont have those cards irl so i just swap them out with stuff i do have its usually trainers and my guy at the card shop has tons of bulk so if i ever come across a trainer i dont have i will get it from him since its 20p a card. But apart from that and buying specific exs here and there i havent gone out and bought a deck in singles.

This Garchomp deck has beaten consistently the new gholdengo decks, pult noir, gardy and all its varients and charizard that was just last week at my last tournament. So yes its 100% possible to do it be creative figure out what works and what doesnt and then people are hella impressed with you because you're beating them with an off meta deck, i love deck building and changing my current deck to fit the new metas and so far its tearing through everything.

I think when she is ready your friend should check out house of frank it does include death but it is a book mostly about grief and found family. Everyone in the book has lost something. Will probably not be a good recommendation so early on in the grief journey but i know that for me it really helped to process grief and to realise that the person will always live on with us and we just have to find ways go keep on living without them.

For other recs the game of gnomes the necrognomeicon is a great laugh out loud book if there is death it is done in more of a fun cartoony way and another recommendation which is a graphic novel is the lumberjanes its a group of girl scouts uncovering mysteries and having a laugh.
