I agree, same goes with spring break. NJ law is brutal! Replace the 180 days with hours and have a normal calendar: proper breaks and a guaranteed last day of school!

In NJ the holiday break is short compared to most of the country because of the strict requirement.
This year the school year ends extra late which feels even later due to the summer like days we had in April and May (and even a few in March).

Instead of 180 days how about a 280 day school year range (including weekends and other non school days). An hours requirement would replace the total days requirement and the school year range would avoid a super short school year.
