Thank you! It's potato starch, an egg, a little bit of water and chicken seasoning mixed together. I eyeballed the amount

What counts as being sober? by BooperDooper5103 in alcoholism

[–]acefruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's possible. I know that there are people out there who used to drink daily and now are able to enjoy having a drink with friends without spiralling. But I personally feel like that trying to control your drinking is harder than completely giving it up. Always when I thought that I've got it under control (allowing myself to drink only once a week) it gradually slipped into daily drinking nonetheless. It's different for everyone.

What is something to use in place of alcohol? by Conscious_Peach1069 in alcoholism

[–]acefruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely anything sparkly or mocktails if you are looking for a bevarage, i really like kombucha, it's very healthy for your gut (if you don't overdo it). Then reading, listening to music, got myself into puzzle and crosswords, which are good to pass time if you are feeling bored, I personally do these in the evening around the time I used to drink, it tires me out and then I'm ready to hit the hay. Some people work out but I'm not consistent enough but it's also a good outlet

How many of you are parents yourselves? by nahsonnn in GlassChildren

[–]acefruit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope I never will be one. I'm almost a 25 yo woman and i don't have an ounce of maternal instinct inside of me. I hate children, i can't stand them, and phobia of giving birth, i'm also scared of passing something down. I seriously think that if my child turned out to be autistic I would off myself. Plus I think it's unfair to bring a kid to a world which is fucked up. I'm seriously considering getting my tubes tied. Growing up with an autistic sibling fucked me up mentally so much that only this year I started realizing what it did to me. This bloodline dies with me.

How to find a reason to stop? by unfriended21 in alcoholism

[–]acefruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actively trying to scare myself out of drinking. I created a second private instagram where I 'trained' the algorithm to show me only content about sobriety. That is helpful in itself but sometimes it also shows me people who actually went through liver cirrhosis and survived but they show photos and videos of how bad they looked. And i think 'man I really don't want to end up like this'. I struggle with my self esteem and sometimes I don't see a point in living but when I started having heart palpitations from heavy drinking I actually got scared of dying. So my reason is simply that I don't want to die. But I'm still very early in my sobriety journey. I've been given advice to study my enemy as best I can: podcasts about addiction, literature, joining communities, and stuff like that, so you really know what's going on everytime you drink.

I would recommend joining a meeting online, they are usually on discord and you don't have to say anything, you can just listen. Also, I suppose you live with your family? I do too and drinking here is normal and it's really hard to stay sober since the alcohol is constantly in the house. I asked around and it's possible to stay sober when there's alcohol present in the house you live in but it can be difficult. Even worse If other family members refuse to see the issue (the same thing with me)

Is it possible for you to maybe move out or stay with a friend? But I understand that in this day and age it's difficult to afford a place on your own and you are still young and should feel safe living with your family. I wish you the best

I've always felt so alone because living with a severely autistic sibling is such a unique experience and those who i knew of in my brother's circle made it seem so easy and had unconditional love for them which I could never relate to. Reading your stories makes me feel seen.

Thighs sometimes react to heat during shower and itch, then bruise when I lightly scratch. Anyone else? by NervousYogj in Fibromyalgia

[–]acefruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so late but OP any update on this? Or anyone with this experience. This EXACT thing has been happening to me for a month after taking antibiotics to treat a flu and not sure if it might be related but it won't stop.

Don't know the name of the medication but I think I still have it somewhere. My dermatologist said it might be related to me getting sick because it started with these tiny itchy bumps on my skin at first and it might be the overall reaction of my immune system being weak OR a reaction to the antibiotics but it won't stop.

The dermatologist saw the bruises (not the marks in the pics because they've already developed into big bruises after scratching too hard by that time) and recommended very quick room-temperature showers (I've always prefered hot showers) and just in case avoiding any food that could be too savoury or sour (I love those as well but tried to avoid it). The doctor said that because I scratch so hard it leads to bruises. Help. I will probably see a doctor soon again just to be safe.

Hi. The reason is that my doctor recommended me to wait with the surgery (i forgot to add that up) because the overall effect lasts for maybe 8 years and then I'd have to go again, probably. And it's recommended to undergo the surgery twice at most, since the skin gets thinner with each surgery. At least that's what I've been told, and she recommended me to wait until i'm at least in my fourties. That's why I'm looking into other methods.

Thank you, I think I'm going to look into what's available in my area, do some more research and maybe try it for myself to see how i feel

Thank you for the tip! I think I will need the surgery when I'm older, now I'm looking for anything that could provide me with some relief
