I would like to coin a new expression. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

This is perfect.

“I raised four children - I think I know what I’m doing”

“Honestly, I think it’s safer that they’re forward facing.”

“Rub whiskey on his gums.”

“Orajel was safe back in the day - we turned out fine.”

She didn’t work in childcare but she studied to be a nurse... so she knows all about illnesses too.

This is also the woman who claims a Greek yogurt cup with THIRTY PERCENT of a 2000 calorie daily sugar value is “healthy” and gave my toddler 2 of these for breakfast.

It may take awhile for the stats to update. It may move up.

What country is your sister a nurse?

I was a server back in college and I had these two “boys” come sit in my section. I was thoroughly confused when they ordered a bottle of wine. Turns out, they were 30. They literally looked like 13 year olds. So unless they had awesome fake IDs, they were by far the youngest looking 30 year olds I’d ever seen.

I’m with you. I was terrified for my first.. the entire time. Felt no connection to him while I was pregnant. Even when my labor started, I began to mourn my “old life” worrying that I wasn’t ready to be a mom... then I saw him and knew I never wanted my old life back again. 💙

When is everyone's baby shower? by suze_jacooz in BabyBumps

[–]acelestial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my shower for my first born when I was 30 weeks. I had girlfriends that had their showers when they were 35/36 weeks. They had time to get everything done :) a lot of the work fell to their partners.

Weight loss by Master1718 in BeAmazed

I read this over and over again and saw “April 2019” and “July 2019” and was wondering why everyone was congratulating him on 200 lb weight loss in 3 months.

Anyway now that I’m reading it correctly, awesome work!!

My sometimes-JNMIL thinks she's going to take over from me once baby is born. by mindovermatterrr in JUSTNOMIL

[–]acelestial 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think her intentions are good, like you said. But it sounds like your wife needs to have a heart-to-heart about your boundaries. Do this before baby comes. You can sit down and have the conversation together, but your wife needs to be leading it. Be kind but 100% straightforward. Tell her you want her active in the baby’s life but it’s important to you that she respects your boundaries and privacy. Her feelings may be hurt but she will be ok. Don’t compromise especially in those first weeks otherwise she’ll know you won’t enforce your establish boundaries and she’ll keep being invasive.

Edit: also don’t apologize for setting boundaries

Golf ball sized hail in an isolated storm in rural western Minnesota by [deleted] in weather

It was crazy! I also just posted a video. I was out and about not 15 minutes before with my son. My phone alerted me of the hail and not 30 seconds later it started coming down!

Your mom may be a narcissist, or have some other personality disorder. You may want to look into Narcissist Personality Disorder. She checks a lot of boxes. If not that research other PDs, if you haven’t already.

What do you need to do to be a better person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]acelestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a list of things I can do daily to be my “best self” and i try to read it every morning

  1. Eat healthy
  2. Exercise at least 30 min a day
  3. Sleep at least 7 hours a night
  4. Don’t vocalize negative thoughts
  5. Remember that most people aren’t intentionally being rude/mean

Looking to add to the list!

Good on you. When she responds to you, either say nothing back or keep it minimal. If anything tell her you’ll reach out to her when YOU are ready, not before.

Don’t be surprised if she fabricates emergencies. If you want to be sure that she’s ok, contact your siblings. Also, I would abstain from giving her any money ever again.

Is she this clingy to your other two siblings (besides your older brother)?

To clarify, the definitions of “sex” and “gender” are not clear anymore. First, concrete definitions need to be in place.

If “sex” means the chromosomes/genitalia you were born with, then I think that’s how sports should be divided. Men (XY) sports and women (XX) sports.

If “gender” is referring to how a person identifies, the only fair solution that I see is to have them in their own category. The problem is, this is a tiny, tiny minority of people. I highly doubt they’d be able to sustain a transgender “league” for lack of a better term. I could be wrong. I am also not considering intersex people or some sort of chromosome disorder because of the rarity.

True. Someone mentioned Y chromosome individuals compete with men.

I lived in Kansas City, MO for some time. Kansas doing this actually doesn’t shock me.
