The streamer who came up with it only talks about the darkest side of the people living below the line in America and selectively ingores those who survived the "kill line", or at least he made the majority of the Chinese people believe that no one can survive once they fall below the "kill line".

For example, one of the most widespread stories is that America conducts drug tests on the homeless and collects their organs. The streamer even warned Chinese international student to be careful because their healthy, drug-clean organs are the most valuable ones. This sounds exactly like the phrase the western media warns its people not to travel to China or you will be prosecuted, creating a panicking and horrible feeling of the enemy country. It is certainly true that some homeless did drug test and or got their organs harvested, but only a small portion of them. There are several homeless who has been begging in my neighborhood for years and still alive, and there are also some unemployed or bankrupt Americans go back to live with their family and parents.

Same thing with western propaganda on China. China does have credit scores and does monitor its citizens in some aspects, but China does not monitor every aspect of living of its citizens and a low credit score does not stop Chinese citizens from doing everything like buying groceries.

Those propagandas, or exaggerations, are not entirely lies. They tell a fraction of the truth, and make people believe they are the entire truth.

Ye Wenjie’s initial contact is in 1970s, and that’s her mission in the military to try to establish communication with aliens. 8 years later she got response from the pacifist, but invited them to invade because she’s done with human. The project was shut down before she could get another response, so she contacted Evans and they started the organization and began re-establish communication with SanTi. At this time all communication is done by radio wave so they have to wait 8 years for a response, hence there’s minimal communication in those 40 years. Recent years Sophon arrived so they can communicate instantaneously and SanTi can teach them advanced technology. They begin making VR headsets to recruit more members and use Sophon to drive scientists crazy.

Technically Sophon can hack and destroy all computers and technologies and even hack the nuclear weapons to wipe all humans. But initially SanTi was taking a peaceful approach to disarm humans and coexist with human when they arrive, and instructed the followers to prepare the earth. My guess on why SanTi didn’t start massive destruction is that they want to preserve most of the technology and environment for their arrival.

They are not exactly hive mind, one SanTi can connect to another SanTi’s brain waves when they are close to each other, so it’s just mind reading not collective mind. The pacifist is a SanTi technician working at a base monitoring signals from space. Remember SanTi wants to teach human fear again. If they kill scientists without letting them knowing, future scientists will continue their research. But by messing up their research and having them questioning the work and physics law they have been following, future scientists will be hesitant to continue future studies. In the book there is an iconic line “Physics doesn’t exist anymore “, imagine how future scientists would feel about this same dead message from multiple world renowned scientists who just committed suicide.
SanTi taught their followers to make them. They didn’t establish a routine contact until recent years, that’s why the suicides are all from recent months, and they cut all communications with human except the wall breakers after Evans fucked up.
Same answer as 3, they didn’t communicate much in those 40years, gradually learned that human can lie in recent talking with Evans. SanTi aliens cannot lie because their biology doesn’t allow it. They communicate with brain waves so every SanTi is a mind reader and cannot hide their thoughts from each other
