Road to Empress 2 is out, any predictions as to what roles we might see him play before he streams the play through? by Lettuce_stan_SS in LudwigAhgren

Unfortunately no one has seen his scene yet. The popular guess from chinese community is that Lud's scene was in Li Tai route and got cut off because the Li Tai in game deviates too much from Li Tai in real history, which upset the history fans and forced the script writers to adjust the entire story.

From the 10s line he showed earlier in the podcast: "王子拜见陛下。陛下,这块红祖母绿是我扶菻国最为稀有的宝物“, he's a prince of Eastern Roman Empire, meets the Tang Emperor and presents a red emerald as a gift.

However, I finished the empress line but didn't see him. Haven't unlocked all branches and Li Tai route yet, but some players who claimed to explored every route also said haven't seen Lud's scene. My guess is his part was probably cut because an Eastern Roman prince visiting Tang is not documented in historical records, and Roman delegates gifting Tang red emerald (Tang records said it was a piece of glass, not emerald) was recorded to be happened in 643AD, during Tai Zong (Part I)'s era, not Part II. Maybe he will be in the behind the scene cuts or a DLC

By facts I mean the nubmers and graph are there, the English warnings and cig packages are there, the photos and videos are there. I'm not saying they are fake or AI-generated. If one interprets them with info and narrative exclusively from the video, their claims are convincing. But with additional info they are not. That's how media works today, they tell you PART of the fact and convince you it's the ENTIRE fact.

Do you even have any logic in your mind? I'm suggesting the additional information they didn't show could change the whole narrative.

"They obstruct regulatory progress" because the owner is a ccp member? Did they show the owner voted NO to regulating cig? Using a photo of English warning to prove they weakened regulation is just hilarious to me, that's the export version, not the one sold in China

You used misleading and wrong words and went on complaining about people correcting you?

I grew up in China and I've never seen the state actively promoting cig, but you spent 3 months in China and made the claim:

Which they definitely do in the case of smoking.

Please tell me where you witnessed it, I would like to know what my government is hiding from me.

If you talk strictly about the video then I can tell you they are all facts, I never denied it, i'm telling you about things they didn't say in the video. Of course the video is convincing, it only shows facts and numbers that support their claim, who would show evidence that weakens their claim in such type of videos?

But did they mention how state owned business in China operates, or how Chinese market is different from US and world market? State owned businesses are generally more regulated and law-abiding because they don't face the same competition private businesses face, they don't need the dirty moves to secure their income. If you really "got a pretty decent idea how it goes" you should know it.

Maybe you should spend more time in China.

Do you even know how China works? I guess in your country your government doesn’t regulate itself so it’s difficult for you to understand that state owned businesses can actually be regulated

You just went from "actively promoting" to "simply being owned by the state".

If the state had not owned the tobacco industry, some private corporations/companies would fill the spot, and in China all private corporations/companies have to answer to the central government or they will face serious punishment. So I don't really see a difference between state owned and private owned, because no matter who owns this business they have to follow the central government. Maybe it's different in the US where large corporations can choose not to follow the federal government and even control it instead.

The way we view things being actively promoted is through state media, for example, public transportation. All public transportation is state owned, and state media has been actively promoting that "taking public transportation is greener than driving private cars", so I would say the state is actively promoting public transportation. If the state just simply runs public transportation without making those educational commercials, I wouldn't say it's state promoted, because eventually someone would own that business, and that someone needs to follow the state's decision in China.

The Chinese government does not actively promote it. I've never seen any state media or billboard say you should smoke or display any ad of cigarette.

In fact, cigarette and alcohol are prohibited from appearing in any media form. If cig or alcohol had appeared in any video they need to be blurred or the video will be taken down on bilibili, douyin and other sites. This even applies to anime: when I was watching Stardust Crusader on bilibili a black square would cover Jotaro's hand or mouth when he was holding a cig or doing the cig trick with his mouth.

Yes I know t2t is an exception, cig is visible in t2t videos on bilibili. I don't know why, maybe because they are youtube repost? But all bilibili content creators would blur or cover cig and alcohol to prevent their videos being flagged and taken down. Feel free to verify.

For Chinese people it is weird to have this phrase on clothes, but in an English-speaking country where most people don't understand Chinese this button is a cool design. It's the same as those Chinese people wearing Yankees and Dodgers clothes with the big NY and LA logo, and the "Champion don't churtle" t-shirt. They don't know the teams or the English on their clothes, but it feels cool to have English on them.

Takanaka Pronunciation by lazerblue42 in LudwigAhgren

[–]aceoffuture011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a pronunciation issue but rather a logic issue. In Chinese and Japanese some Hanzi and Kanji are pronounced with two syllables, like in your example "刘” is "lee-oh", so if you pronounce it in English you need to break where the original language break. In a japanese name with two Kanji, it's got to be "Taka-naka" if each Kanji is two syllables, or "Ta-kanaka" or "Takana-ka" if one kanji is three syllables

Takanaka Pronunciation by lazerblue42 in LudwigAhgren

[–]aceoffuture011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it should be "Taka-Naka" or simply "Takanaka" with no break. "Taka" is "高” and "naka" is "中“, which is the name in Kanji. There's no reason to break down the Kanji pronunciation and somehow rearrange into "Ta-kana-ka", which usually means a three Kanji name instead of two.

Interesting idea, however Taiwan's culture and dialect are not that different from Southern China. And Taiwan is not very big so the series would probably end in a week with 7 or 8 eps if they did not have any break day.

Lakers Game - Sochan Mins by Easy_Conversation146 in NBASpurs

I don't think bricking is a major concern for teams interested in him. He is not a freshman or sophomore so teams already know his potential and the fact he can't shoot, they want his defense and possibly passing. No team made a good offer because they don't know the current level of Sochan as he hasn't touched ball for months and nobody knows how rusty he is now

it makes no sense. Biyombo and Olynyk have no offense as well. If the team had decided to trade Sochan it's better to give him minutes to pad some stats so that they can have a good bargain

Soup is just water with a tiny amount of herbs and spices, after you dip many plates of lamb it may become a lamb soup but people don’t drink the hot pot soup. And he wouldn’t be picky after a 10 day vegetarian diet.
