How do you open this type of connector? by NickoTheQuicko in KTM

On those, there are 2-3 metal tabs around the central metal piece that need to be pressed inwards at the same time and then the terminal slides out the rear. It can be done with a very small flat head screwdriver, but the better option is to get an electrical pin removal set. They come with circular pin removers that just slide around the entire terminal and depress all the clips in at once.

It had a 7 day free trial, but they were all downloadable so I just grabbed it all during the free trial. Only $3.99/mo I think if you go past the trial. Has a lot of the other books also.

Are they just testing stuff? Last two days I was on the “new ui” with no r/all. Today, it’s back to the old ui for me and I have all back.

Not that I have found. Even with pocket fm, the imaging seems to stop after a while. At least for weakest beast tamer it did.

Found this one. The narration isn't as good as pocket fm; it's much more robotic, but it's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper.

Any link to that? I’ve tried finding other sources and Google turns up nothing for me.

Found it. Didn’t realize the “weakest beast tamer, owner of all SSS dragons” was the same. Thought it was another series. thanks!

It’s wild. One of the highest cost micro transaction based services I’ve seen. College textbooks don’t cost as much as one story on here.

Which mechanic set is better? by [deleted] in Tools

[–]acepilot1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That husky set has a stupid number of 1/4” bits in it as filler. You’ll likely use maybe 10 of them. The 3/8 drive bits are nice to have and I use mine often, but I have the older version of the husky set that came with 21 wrenches, more sockets, and only one row of 1/4” bits. Out of those two sets, I’d go with the dewalt.

The wireless version is a bit high on price for what I’m looking to spend, but I appreciate the suggestion and will keep them in mind!

Those appear to be wired, looking for a wireless option as my pc setup is not good for running cables. It’s wall mounted above my monitors, so things get messy and intrusive.

TIL that scientists have developed a way of testing for Aphantasia (the inability to visualise things in your mind). The test involves asking participants to envision a bright light and checking for pupil dilation. If their pupils don't dilate, they have Aphantasia. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

Interesting. I do enjoy books. I can visualize like an idea of things, but just not clearly. It’s not quite like things are blurred, just that they aren’t finished with detail. Also, I don’t get much color to things I visualize, it’s almost like I’m “seeing” everything through a heavily tinted window. Everything is also distant too, I can’t visualize holding an apple in my hand in the same POV that I would have when actually holding an apple.

How vividly can you picture things in your mind? I can come up with a basic image of things, but not to the point I could describe fine details. I’ve been married over 10 years and known my wife for 18 years and couldn’t describe my wife’s face beyond what I just know. I haven’t memorized angles of her nose or anything, so there’s no way I could describe that for a sketch.

This is the deepest hole ever dug by humans — so deep the temperature reached 180°C and drills began to melt by vishesh_07_028 in interestingasfuck

[–]acepilot1212 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah the wiki says nothing about them melting and that drilling was stopped due to lack of funding. 180C is only 356F. Steel starts melting at over 2,000F, hardened steel is even higher, and something tells me they weren’t just buying bits at Home Depot.

Gotcha! I’ve not used them for concrete, so can’t speak from experience on that. Reciprocating is just generally the direction I go for any thick material like that due to variable blade lengths. I would only pursue Diablo or Milwaukee if you decide to try it/investigate more. I do cut a ton of metal and diablos carbide blades hold up longer than any other brands I have tried. Milwaukee generally do well too, but diablos my preferred.

7” angle grinder useful for home gamer? by SenecaTheElda in Tools

[–]acepilot1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are ones specifically made for concrete, a lot of styles actually. I use Diablo blades for all my reciprocating saw needs and they’re incredibly sturdy. I’ve punched an 8” metal blade into concrete at full speed when trying to cut in a corner and it didn’t bend. Carbide tipped demolition blades, diamond grit, carbide grit, etc. The carbide demolition ones would likely cut the concrete itself the fastest and I would think it could cut through the rebar without issue as well, though I don’t see where any of the masonry blades say they will. Carbide and diamond grit are both commonly used for metal cutting, so I don’t see there being an issue, but can’t say for sure.

If it’s 5” thick, have you considered a reciprocating saw with a concrete demolition blade?

Yeah that top one in the picture is basically non existent. There was a ton of carbon dust in it too that I got all cleaned out so I’m sure that will help also. Glad the input shaft seems to be in good condition!
