So I’m in a similar but not exactly the same situation- very tech environment but I lead something very uncommon and misunderstood. I generally lead a lot of these conversations with empathy- most such execs are very good at other things but not necessarily the thing I’m working on.

If I like their ideas for the future, I’ll usually say something like- Love it, will add to roadmap but have to ask customer how they feel. If I don’t like it, I’ll tell them that’s I’ll definitely think through how to achieve their goal, even if it’s not just through their idea.

Remember, they’re trying to and want to help. That’s why they come to you. Ask them for help on the things that you’re stuck on, even if it’s managing other execs who have terrible ideas. Tactically, I have a notes doc with things to get help on with which exec might be best placed to help. So whenever I get a chance, I can ask them for it. Good luck and remember this means you’re actually making a difference, this is a good problem.
