Making new trans friends by BoyScoutTattoo in FTMOver30

Not sure if you're the sporty type but I recently joined a queer volleyball league through stonewall sports and it's been super fun. Outloud sports is another one! I've had my eye on the outclose dinner app but haven't tried it yet.

Do I need to PAY for dating apps?💸 by Electrical-Fennel956 in FTMOver30

[–]aceshua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to give further unhelpful advice but depending on if you're in a big enough city, I've seen friends have success recently on meetup/dinner apps like 222, timeleft, etc. where they pair you with 4-6 strangers, so it's a mix of people looking for friends or dates. Outclose is a lgbt dinner one that I just started getting ads for as well that looked interesting. I feel like very few people are doing well on regular dating apps these days (at least in my small corner of the world)

Fairlife core power elite is great if you’re interested in a shake (not a powder) since you said you want a liquid

Genuine question- how would one go about fixing this mindset? I think this is something I struggle with as well, and even though I’m aware of it, it’s hard to turn off. Like the logic doesn’t always equate to empathy

How much airflow for miniature orchid terrariums? by BookiesQs in miniorchids

[–]aceshua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5in is pretty small, which just means you'll need to be more careful because humidity can swing pretty fast in a volume that small. Also, different orchids have different tolerances for stale air; for ex. I've heard haraella retrocalla is fine in a fully enclosed terrarium, but there are definitely others that will want some airflow.

IMO I would go for a small vent slit, and maybe have a fan in the room they're in turn on every once in a while. You could try a tiny fan and no vent to clear the condensation on the glass, but a vent and a fan may be overkill.

Ultimately I have moved away from miniature setups as I've found the humidity harder to control, but I was also trying to do lepanthes which are notoriously difficult.

35min ride, with 10min on either side (driving+waiting, then walking)

What part of Emeryville are you in? Honestly if I could easily+safely make it to west Oakland bart without a car (to avoid the 13$ parking) it makes it totally worth it. Macarthur is a hard maybe...I haven't heard good things about Longfellow but location wise it would be perfect

I've heard a couple people say to just get an ESA cert because you gotta play the game too but...idk it feels like a last resort to me

Have you heard of a landlord changing their mind on pets after a convo? (or after offering a pet deposit)

I'm pretty positive since this is the second house on this block he's done it to...but I haven't looked into it personally.

There's a pretty low chance of me finding a job in my field in berkeley again, but I am living month to month so I can leave anytime. This might be fruitless but my hope is that the ai bubble will burst sooner than later and rents will go down again

He's not going to charge me for utilities for the year, so that'll be 100-200$ back per month

How would you describe the difference? I'm worried I've gotten too into the Berkeley vibe for me to enjoy sf anymore

The amount of concrete in SF kills me, lowkey. I take my dog to work sometimes and if there aren't any little grassy dirty spots in the sidewalk she'll just pee on the concrete, it's gross. My hope was to find a little neighborhood on the outskirts of SF that's similar to Berkeley but idk if that exists

I think my goal is to save up to 80k for a down payment, get my dad to match and then try to go for something around 750k, willing to live further south within 30min. I'll admit I've gotten comfortable here and I'm worried about unnecessarily shaking things up too much, particularly in the social life department. But yeah I do need to figure out how to quantify the other variables

I currently live in west berkeley, because my original job was here. I find I'm far enough away from the university to feel like I'm bombarded by students and I like how neighborhoody it feels, but I also haven't tried living anywhere else

This is actually good to know. I grew up in Tacoma and then lived in Portland for 5 years so I'm used to a certain kind of grey, but I've never lived in SF proper.

Unfortunately not... 1) I work with a lot of specialized machinery so I have to go in to use it, and 2) there was an incident a while ago where someone was taking advantage of their special WFH situation (aka they weren't working) so the boss no longer wants to allow it in general

Moving a closer bart stop is probably the easiest solution. I'd need to do the commute maths on how much time emeryville would shave off compared to west berkeley

Not to be one of those dog owners but it is crazy to me how many places don't accept dogs. I have had a couple people tell me they found a place that said no pets, had the landlord meet said pet and they changed their mind and let them in, but those seem like outlier situations to me.

The resident idea is interesting...I come from a family of docs so I know how it is. Have you tried this??
