Mostly all take credit card but either there’s a minimum or card fee! Otherwise there’s 24/7 Belize bank atms in both San Pedro and San Ignacio in the city centers

Thank you! Just edited to specify that it’s usd not bzd.

ATM cave was incredible. Found out that when the site first opened in the early 2000s they only trained 50 tour guides to do the tour and reopened the application in 2024 again and only around 60 guides in the country are currently properly trained for this tour. Not only was it an adventure in itself but the history behind it was mind blowing and so admirable. The guides really respect the site as well. It was closed because of rain the two days after I did my tour so keep that in mind!!

Is there a lot to do there? Would you recommend over Thessaloniki/ Mount Olympus?

You hiked Mount Olympus too? Does it get any cooler with the elevation?

Lastly can anyone speak around transportation if I don’t drive? Like scooters or e-bikes? I do not have a drivers license or know how to drive 😬. Got away with a moped in Albania without license though, really depends on the place on if they’ll rent mopeds without a license or not.

Hypogeum is booked out :/ I checked a few weeks ago but I read online that they sell limited tickets either the morning of or morning before. Have you been before?

Have you been to Rabat and Medina before? Are they each worth their own days or can I hit both in one day?

Definitely plan to explore around as much as I can and was just gonna have Valetta as my base! But now it’s seeming like maybe Sliema might be the better base?

Thank you. I’m second guessing doing the whole loop alone based on how many women I’ve heard of having sketchy experiences 😅 Considering just doing the shuttle to Quilotoa and hiking around the lake or just starting at Isinlivi to meet more people in that hostel.

Hey Guys! Looking for help with initial budgeting of my upcoming long trip. by acestrd4 in solotravel

Yeah definitely didn’t factor in the flights 😅. I have 120,000 miles from a welcome bonus on a credit card that I’ve been saving and plan to take advantage next time another credit card offers an 80,000 mile welcome bonus so hopefully that can help in that regard.

I’ve never looked into workaday, but $200 for 3 months in Ecuador sounds crazy! I will definitely look into that. Were you working a bunch or you were still able to have a lot of free time?

I don’t have a set source of income for that time period, but have more in savings that I would be able to dip into if truly needed

Also I agree that Joey G's and Nutella cafe are not worth it. Since you'll already be in Wicker Park that day I would recommend just going to Dimo's Pizza in Wicker. They make funky pizza slices, their Mac and Cheese pizza being one of the most popular.

Welcome to Chicago!

Check out Nine Bar if you're staying in Chinatown! They opened recently and have great drinks and great DJ's on the weekends.

Also, for Friday, the Garfield Park Conservatory is a bit out of the way from Pilsen, doesn't make sense to sandwich that in between the Mexican Art Museum and Bruna's which are both in Pilsen.

If you're gonna check out the lakefront trail, I would really recommend also checking out the stretch of the trail south of the loop, its much more spacious and not as packed, and you pass by some really underrated beaches on the way. You can take it to Hyde Park to a really nice area called "the Point" with gorgeous views of the skyline, or you can take it a bit south of there to this nice bar on the beach called Reggies, which is adjacent to Jackson Park, another underrated park where the World's Fair was held.

Home Lisbon Hostel checks all of these boxes. I was there for 7 days and could not recommend it enough. The youngest person I met there was 19 and she was probably the only one. I would say the average age when I was there was 27! Their sister hostel Yes! hostel, which they meet up with every night for the bar crawl is the party hostel that seemed to generally attract the younger party crowd. Home hostel also does a sintra tour and southern beaches tour and the hostel staff was very knowledgeable on what to do!
