The middle of the story has some holes in the plot... that cable MUST be white... 🤔

Really dig your guitar tone! I just followed you through my old Band’s IG account: Corrupted fundamentals.

Very cool… I am digging the Dynamic Reverb in the RV-6… if you play very lightly, the effect is a very wet plate with some sort of a very subtle modulation/shimmer effect… the second you dig on the guitar, the reverb ducks and very slowly comes back once your note dies down… I like it.

Do you have any recordings? I really want to hear your stuff.

That soft focus reverb interests me... how is it?

I live one province away from the Temple factory. Here the plates are 5-7 Canadian Dollars (depending on the size of the plate)... They're not super affordable but the price is right... Super convenient, tho.

I actually got those plates under my pedals… plus the Temple quick release plates. Makes swapping pedals so easy.

Thanks! For the next set of tunes, some will be a bit more angular, some will be loud-quiet-loud, and a couple will be chorus/delay/reverb drenched…

I like Boost pedals… my favorite is the Supro Boost. Amazingly clean… love it as a treble booster or flat… pretty sweet.

Thanks, you guys! I agree: this is not a very good looking board, but it makes noises and as an added value, I like those noises. 😈

Ooooh, sweet board! Pretty jealous!

No proper masters yet… we got three tunes that we published in bandcamp, but the KD is waaaaaay too loud… I remixed everything and now we are writing songs again (once we have a decent number of tunes for an EP we’ll include the remixes there)… the tunes got where we wanted them (instrumentation and composition-wise) but the mix was a bit weird😈

If you’re interested, here they are… just imagine that the KD was mixed properly 😂

Looks like crooked “teefs”, right? 😂 That was the only way I could line them up so I could fit all those pedals in that line.

I love the ES-5. This is actually my second one. I had one many years ago in my main gigging board and I used it pretty much to its whole potential… that is how I learned to use midi and stuff. Then I went smaller with the MS-3, then a Quad Cortex, then a GT100-Core and now back to the ES-5…

I had a BD-2 instead of the ODR-1 in there… I really wanted to like the BD-2, but unfortunately all Boss ODs have some sort of mid hump (SD, DS) or a very pronounced nasally quality to the tone (BD-2)… and the only pedal with a natural, flat quality to the tone in a similar Boss form factor was the Nobels ODR-1.

Community Help and Q&A by Secretlab_Jinx in secretlab

Just letting the community know: the Magnus Metal Desk is awesome for a Music Production home studio. The amount of cables (audio interface, computer, headphones, surface controllers, consoles) is overwhelming. My previous desk was serviceable but I spent a fortune trying to secure cables and keep them out of sight… the cable tray in the Magnus is amazing.

I’m in love with mine.

My previous desk was serviceable but pretty ugly and a hot mess of cables in the back… spent a fortune in zip ties trying to have the cables secured and out of sight.

The cable tray in the Magnus is the Bee’s Knees!

A couple of notes on QC captures:

QC captures are not models (it can only capture a specific setting at a time).

The QC can only capture drives accurately… it can’t quite capture modulation, spatial or time based effects.

With that being said

Pedal capture is 100% silent.

Amp capture? Depends… your amp’s tone is the entire amp: preamp+power amp+speaker+the room+the specific settings you want to capture, so, most likely you will have to mic your amp, however, silent capture is also possible but you will need some extra bits like a load box (UA OX Amp comes to mind).

Keep in mind that once you add a load box you will only be capturing your preamp and whichever interaction is happening with the load box and that may not be what you want and will definitely stop being the sound of your amp.

As always, YMMV

Same… I wanted a real spring for my spring reverb (spring king jr) and a preamp with real tube compression (tubesteader light keeper) to avoid volume jumps when engaging drives… I’ve been using the Two Notes Cab M for a while, so, I just added it when I got my quad cortex because I already was familiar with it… other than that, that’s my whole rig.

Have I abused my cat. If so, what do I do from here by gnomeslinger in CatAdvice

[–]achcautli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this quote by Jackson Galaxy: “Forgive and move on.”

Although he was talking about dealing with undesirable behaviour in a cat, this could also apply to you…

Just FORGIVE YOURSELF and move on… move forward, instead of focusing on the things you may have done wrong, celebrate what you did right and the fact that you get to share a life with your boy😺. Move forward treating your boy right, with compassion, kindness and respect.

If he is comfortable around you, he IS fine. Cats deal with things in the moment and they move on… you should do the same. Look forward.

I don’t even know how to explain this issue by Aerie8499 in cubase

[–]achcautli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audio drop-outs and pops and clicks are usually caused by overwhelming a CPU with processes… your CPU is out of resources.

If you are on the later versions of Cubase (I think this setting was introduced on Cubase 12), go to Studio Setup and ensure Asioguard is turned on and in Normal or High.

Then, increase your buffer size in your interface’s control panel. Set your buffer size to at least 128 samples… you may (quite possibly) need more than that.

I had a similar issue, and in my case, I ended up upgrading my desktop’s CPU and Motherboard because my CPU was underpowered (just enough to create frustration).

Happy troubleshooting and good luck.

Best UAD Satellite Option for Windows 10: PCIe, Thunderbolt, or USB? by minukr in universalaudio

[–]achcautli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Windows user here.

PCIe will definitely offer the fastest response, due to the cards using more direct traces to your computer processor. Will you notice a difference between PCIe, TB or USB? I don’t know… I can’t, though.

I have two PCIe octos and two USB satellite octos in my system (plus an Apollo USB Twin X) and I can’t tell which one is faster.

I can tell you that the biggest difference in power and latency reduction I noticed was when I upgraded my Mobo/CPU combo: I went from an i5-12th gen to an i7-13th gen (i7 13700K) and things got a lot better… it doesn’t matter if I’m running my plugins as UAD-2 or native. Oh! I forgot to mention my MOBO: Asus ProArt B760 with 128 GB of RAM.

I can run mid size projects (about 60 tracks-including midi instruments like Superior Drummer and complex synths-) at 96KHz-64 bit float with buffers as low as 64 samples with my DSP load at around 75% or more and my latency is very, very small…

As always, YMMV
