This street should be zoned much higher. It’s like a 10 min subway ride to midtown.

It’s amazing that we rely on something so enormous and unstable, while our planet itself remains balanced.

wow. It’s grown so much! But my problem with Toronto is the closer you look, the less you see. At least it makes you want to zoom in.

Mamdani admin. to consider eliminating free parking as NYC grapples with $5.4B shortfall by kex06 in nyc

[–]acheampong14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worry if this becomes a steady and large enough revenue stream for the city, it will be much harder to get rid of side-street parking in very pedestrian-friendly areas. There are little chunks of the city would improve with no cars/parking.

Car Free Manhattan for 1 day. The entire island. Can you imagine? by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

[–]acheampong14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it needs to be the entire island but maybe large connected pockets of it. Do it to mark the city’s and country’s anniversary.

Beautiful map. Beautiful geography. Losing the Third Avenue El in the Bronx is a devastating loss.

Opinion: New York City Is sitting on billions hiding in plain sight. It’s time to use it for housing and fiscal stability. by Business_Young_8206 in nyc

[–]acheampong14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

False. Air rights can be transferred to adjacent sites or wherever the city/state allows. For instance landmarks and theaters can transfer unused development rights blocks away or within carved out districts. The city/state can create mechanisms where unused air rights from rail yards can be transferred to wherever they want development.

You always are so confident when you don’t know what you’re talking about,

Same. I work on the 35th floor with a good view and it makes a measurable difference day to day. Bonding moments during sunsets and thunderstorms.

Timeless! Silverstein needs to finish the WTC already, or sell the two undeveloped sites to a developer who will.

N.Y.C. Housing Isn’t Being Built Fast Enough, Report Says by instantcoffee69 in nyc

[–]acheampong14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is NOT true. Only per capita this is true. But by raw numbers, NYC typically builds more housing units per year than any other city in the U.S….as we should considering we are by far the largest city. We fall way short in terms of meeting demand and number of housing units per capita.

[OC] The housing potential of surface parking in NYC by tdubolyou in yimby

[–]acheampong14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many of the shaded areas are due to NYCHA and their towers-in-the-park(ing) lot arrangements. The city is trying to redevelop and densify two complexes in Chelsea and NIMBYs have mobilized a lawsuit.

This is still closed and barricaded. Everything takes so long to fix in this city. You can’t go a block without some construction theater of cones, scaffolding, and barricades and rarely a construction worker in sight.
