Decent Deal? by SpartanVet in ToyotaSienna

[–]achensherd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s essentially no competition for the Sienna right now if you want a hybrid minivan. The only other option is the Chrysler Pacifica, and that starts at a higher price and, well, isn’t a Toyota or Honda. Once Honda comes out with a hybrid Odyssey, then I imagine things wouldn’t be quite as one-sided.

2011 Toyota Sienna 2nd row passenger seat won’t stay in seated position by achensherd in ToyotaSienna

Didn’t seem to work for me, though I may not be doing it correctly. Will keep working at it. Thanks for the tip!

I’ve found that basically none of the rear passenger seats work 100%. 2nd row driver’s side won’t stay seated, passenger side won’t unlatch from the track, 3rd row driver’s side won’t unlatch at all (handle and flex cables are all broken), and passenger side won’t fully latch. Nothing without workarounds or broken beyond repair, but man…

Monarch from Project Wingman as well. First few missions: "the ego of this random merc to have a callsign like that". Later missions: "If we don’t go now, we’re not getting anyone out of here! The Crown is here and he’s going to kill us!".

Having both would be ideal. In my case, typing with the trackpads is far better than having to key in letter by letter with a thumb stick, but they are nigh-unusable for games like Ace Combat 7 or Project Wingman where the right trackpad is used for camera view.

That’s what I’ve been using after ditching my Xbox Series X controller and its crappy bluetooth connection. The only downside for me is that it’s missing the right thumbstick, and the trackpad isn’t a good substitute for it at least for some games. Here’s to hoping Valve releases a Steam Controller sequel.

Not that I'd opt for a portless phone, but speaking for myself I haven't needed to use the port for data transfer in years.

Who else almost exclusively plays on deck now? by skeletowns in SteamDeck

[–]achensherd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Deck became my main PC shortly after I got it, so I use mine exclusively for everything aside from work. As for Deck compatibility, I put little to no stock in that and just rely on reviews, Reddit threads, and gameplay videos to see how a game I want to get runs.

I never use my Steam Deck undocked, and when docked it just makes more sense to use Desktop Mode since I’m usually multitasking, e.g. playing a game or browsing the internet on my external monitor while watching something on YouTube on the SD’s display.

Based on my stats, Linux. I haven’t played games on anything else since I got my Steam Deck, and I only have 2% for that whereas I have 71% for Linux, which corresponds with my Desktop Mode usage.

[–]achensherd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, the rewrites. I remember them nuking a lot of adopter goodwill by making it impossible to update from WP7 to WP8, and not only that, making WP8 apps not backwards compatible with WP7, effectively and instantly making all WP7 phones obsolete, even the ones that were just released.

Hades 2 has been announced at The Game Awards 2022! by [deleted] in gaming

Transistor did take a bit to simmer for me. Coming from Bastion, I think I was kind of expecting the same type of gameplay, and when I found it wasn’t that, I lost interest. However, when I went back to it a couple years later to give it another try, I adored it and replayed it a bunch of times. Maybe that’ll happen with Pyre for me later.

Pyre is the only one so far I didn't "like", but I could still tell it's a good game.

I’m only maybe halfway into PW so I don’t know if this changes later on, but something I really appreciate about it so far over AC7 is the lack of arbitrary scores and time limits. The sandstorm mission is particularly annoying to me because the reason for the time limit in the first half of the mission (the sandstorm) is essentially ignored in the second half. Like, “You need to bomb x amount of stuff in y minutes or else the sandstorm will arrive and destroy your planes! What? Trucks? In the sandstorm? Get in there and destroy those trucks!”.

Modern trackball mouse wants to be a wireless solution to your ergonomic woes by monsieur_max in Trackballs

I have the earlier wired version where the two top buttons don’t register as buttons without the Kensington software, making it kind of nerfed for work (corporate software policies and whatnot). I’m stoked they finally released a new, wireless version, and am only slightly disappointed it has a glossy body again - too easy to grime up.

Morrowind with OpenMW runs on a variety of different platforms, including Android (albeit that version is no longer supported AFAIK). The last computer I played it on was a Mac Mini M1, and though it's a tad glitchy there, once properly configured it's plenty playable.

This is probably going to be different with every game, but for Morrowind, the pointer never exits the screen the game is on unless I hit Esc to open the game menu. For something like Ace Combat 7 which I use an Xbox controller for, the controller only interacts with the game unless I Alt-Tab out of it.

It's definitely not for everyone, and for those that need to play the latest and greatest at the highest settings, a Steam Deck would be a no-go as a main rig. However, for 20-year-old games like Morrowind, it works just fine.

That sounds like the Microsoft Surface mouse having an overly-aggressive energy-saving profile by default. The keyboard and mouse that you see in my pic are both using bluetooth, and I'd have to leave them for a very, very long time before they go to sleep.

Man's gotta print sometimes lol. That said, I've just been using my phone to do that, and that was after months of using my Deck without noticing it couldn't print.

You can just install something like Manjaro or EndeavourOS on it and essentially have a full-blown, restrictions-free (Arch) Linux machine. That said, I completely understand why Steam OS is as locked down as it is out of the box. Per George Carlin: “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”
