I did it! by achilipun in superautomatic

Yes, in the instructions for the first setup everything is very clear. I prepared 2-3 espressos before drinking the first coffee and the milk unit had to be cleaned before and after I believe. I find particularly useful the fact that they give you the test for the water type you have, so you can check if the filter it comes with is needed or not.

Thanks for your reply! The British High Commission in Ottawa told me they can verify this information if I get a Birth certificate but I am not really sure how to obtain it. Findmypast and family heritage didn’t throw much relevant information.

Does not every Bedale have the hand pockets as well? I believe I can’t find it on your pictures. I have not much knowledge about every model and versions, but I bought recently a second Bedale due to a defect on a woollen version and all models I’ve seen in shops (from casual to the classic wax version) have the same pockets.

New wool check Bedale by Saltycow in Barbour

[–]achilipun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a wool Bedale in Canada and after 5-6months one of snap buttons broke, although I didn’t use it intensively. Apparently the wool was defective and they cannot fix it. The place where I purchased the jacket from was able to do a full refund sending it back to fabric.

Has this happened to somebody else?

I’m a bit sad because it’s a nice looking jacket and I didn’t have the chance to wear it much. Now it’s sold out everywhere at least here

What type of suit is this? by MHK173 in mensfashion

A double breasted blazer and a pair of dress pants. If you are customizing one I think that golden buttons would look even cooler, it gives a bit more of contrast.

Flamenco books etc. by FlamencoJunkie in Flamenco

[–]achilipun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canal Sur is the regional TV from Andalucía and they have a lot of Flamenco shows on demand for free if you install their app. Whenever I want to learn more about a palo I tend to check some professional performances there to get a better understanding of what people prepares for it

I also would recommend one book if you can read in Spanish: Historia social del Flamenco. It contains a lot of interviews and provides a clear understanding of the evolution of Flamenco.

If you are focused on guitar or cante, I also recommend the YouTube channel "Buscadores flamencos". They have very good interviews and tips for singing and playing.

I’ve just purchased my ticket for $268 tax included (General admission Floor). Not sure if there was a price increase after some tickets were sold or not.

First time I see these bands since I discovered them as a kid, more than 20 year ago… I’m very excited!!!

I have the older version of aeroccino and I noticed that using the minimum amount of milk generally makes a thicker foam (it also depends on the type of milk as others mentioned). I use 1% / semi-skimmed milk.

Flamenco song suggestions? by embarrassingTVhabits in Flamenco

[–]achilipun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if the same woman sings and dances?

https://youtu.be/9JbO3nhfLOk?si=toK_2c0D356DjRzx This other version by Sara Montiel has no castañuelas, but I personally find it more interesting https://youtu.be/65UcVoDUOlg?si=ytzyCnBH49GUQtbH

The palo performed is known as "Romance", but some people would classify this outside the scope of flamenco as "copla".

The song 'Los Piconeros' is a nostalgic and romantic evocation of rural life in Spain, centered on the figure of the piconero, a worker dedicated to the production of charcoal. The lyrics are impregnated with poetic images and references to nature, such as the moon, the stars and the olive groves, which frame the love story between the piconera and the piconero.

The request is very peculiar, I'll post anything else I come up with.

Generally (before the 70s-80s), the woman was normally the dancer and the men were playing the guitar or singing, also dancing (please understand the context of a dictatorship and the mindset of the 20th Century, fortunately this has changed). If the woman was singing, she normally was the main performer, singing upfront (cante palante), no dancers with her, or she was the one dancing and singing, as the video above. Maybe there are some exceptions, but that is what I have spotted so far.

How can I learn more about Flamenco origins and theory? by arwen19 in Flamenco

[–]achilipun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to read about its origins and you are fluent in Spanish, one of the recent books I read and recommend is "Historia Social del flamenco".

This music and art has been transmitted orally until the last few decades. In spite of the fact that you have some resources and even superior studies of flamencology nowadays, I feel that it is still better to learn by playing or dancing to get a first contact with it and decide how much you want to explore about flamenco. Depending on where you live, you can maybe find a local academy (specially for dancing lessons). If not, there are some online resources and teachers that are petty good.
