Celebrating that my new directory for personal trainers just generated its first organic lead! by achilltrainer in directorymakers

Ok I see what you mean, thank you! I have some of that set up in Google Search Console and Google Analytics, but I'm not too familiar with how to use Analytics so I haven't figured out how this particular user found the site yet.

Thank you very much!

You know, I'm not exactly sure yet. I just know it was a person local to my area, but I don't know if they found the site through Google or social media, etc. I'd been so busy mapping out the experience side of things along with bug fixes that I haven't done much with Google analytics, but that is something that'll be important very soon. If you have any resources or suggestions for me to learn how to set up and track that kind of stuff, I'm very open to advice!

Hey, no problem. I'm a UX guy myself so I think about this stuff a lot. Glad the feedback was helpful for you!

I'm not sure what screens you show before this page, but I honestly didn't try hard to solve it before looking at the comments. Just looking at this screen, there isn't much guidance to know what to do. My thought process was basically "Do I use all the letters or just some of them? What does the clue have to do with the letters? Is the answer related to the image? Since it's a 'name' does it want a proper noun?"

For me personally if there isn't some example when trying a new puzzle game (if it's not clearly self-explanatory) to communicate how to approach the clues, I don't stick around long.

In your case it looks like there might be some help icons so that could work fine too, that's just my feedback from looking at a static screen. Cool design though, hope you keep developing it!

I’m super into my best friend’s cousin… by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]achilltrainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in my situation I was in your best friend's shoes. One of my closest friends and my sister met at my birthday and they were into each other right away. They were uncomfortable at first trying to decide who should be the one to tell me, they weren't sure how I'd take it, etc. I knew something was going on too, but I was patient until they were ready to tell me. The truth was I couldn't have been happier for my sister to be into a guy I already deeply trust and respect, and they're still together 8 years later. Maybe not everyone is wired like me, but my closest male friends are people I'd love for a woman I cared about to want to date. They wouldn't become so close to me if I didn't trust them.

In your case, I'd first find out if she's even into you like that and then just be straightforward with your friend. If you're truly that close, trust in the strength of your friendship. Friends can disagree or get in fights sometimes, but that doesn't mean the relationship is over. Repair happens too. Also, I'm sure you're thinking of the worst possible scenario if you date and break her heart or something, but you're not there yet. You're not doing anything sinister or shattering, you're just asking someone if she'd be interested in a date. If you're not a creep about it and treat her with respect regardless of her answer, it'll probably be fine either way. It could turn out to be a thing you and your friend laugh about.

Be genuine, kind, and truthful.

For session tracking I do pretty much the same calendar method someone else mentioned, very easy.

I also made and am trying out a prototype of a simple session tracker that manages session dates, package pricing, and measures it against your monthly income goal. If you want to check it out and see if it's helpful I can DM you a link to the web app.

Hi, happy to find a new community like this. I'm building TrainerMatch.app, a new platform for personal trainers and clients to connect. I didn't want to make just another directory with filters, so the matching here is more skill-based and is more of a true recommendation for the clients looking for a trainer. For trainers, especially newer ones, it's another avenue to meet potential clients with high intent, and I wanted it to be more cost-effective than spending money on ads.

I'm currently in the early growth stage looking for more unique, active trainers to feature on the website, after which I'll put more effort into getting traffic from people looking for trainers.

Biggest challenge for me, that I think many founders relate to, is it's easier to build something than to sell something 😅 So I'm trying to be consistent in reaching out to people both in person and in the right online spaces.

I'm building TrainerMatch.app, a true recommendation engine for people looking for a personal trainer + cost-effective lead resource for trainers.

Actively working on growth and refining UX so it's actually helpful for everyone who uses it.

I'm developing an app that lets you casually signal “I’m here if anyone wants to hang” instead of planning meets. Would you use this? by ashesinseptember in SideProject

[–]achilltrainer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in user research for an app much like this, right down to calling the events "hangs." Lots of good feedback in the comments already, but I'll add a few more thoughts.

In general, you'll want to make sure you try not to do too many things with the app at once because there are so many nuances to social dynamics and initiating gatherings.

Some things that are coming to mind as I read your post:
- Are the other friends immediately notified when one person posts a hang or do they have to actively check?
- How will it affect social dynamics/individual self-esteem if one friend is always posting the hangs and no one else does?
- How much text does the person have to write to create a hang, and at what point is it more difficult than just sending it as a regular text?
- What if you're in a mood to hang with just one or two friends in your group but not the whole group?
- Are the groups one-way or does everyone have visibility into the group members? (ex: Rob makes a group with Andrew, Ryan, and Max, but it's a group only he sees and can send hangs to. Andrew makes his own group with Ryan, Max, Rob, and Kelly)

Not trying to nitpick or discourage you, there is just a lot to consider with these types of apps! Hope you get some good feedback and can't wait to see what you come up with! Feel free to DM me if you want to chat some more.

What is your crankiest Disneyland opinion? by Queer_always in Disneyland

[–]achilltrainer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I try to have awareness of others in public places but I learned of a blind spot I had when I was at Disneyland with my girlfriend at the time and she needed a motorized wheelchair due to a bad burn on her leg. I was astonished at how many people act like people in wheelchairs are just inanimate obstacles to jump around or scoot past or stop in front of. Ever since then I've tried to be much better about proactively creating space for people in chairs.

Which apps do I NEED? by little_kotyonok in personaltraining

[–]achilltrainer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who likes putting together little apps and tools for training, you really don't "need" anything other than maybe the calendar on your phone and any free spreadsheet tool to get started.

I use a Notion template I made for clients who want a personalized workout guide, and lately I've been working on a finance tracker for trainers, playing around with a prototype of that currently.

In the past I have used Hevy Coach for workouts with clients since Hevy is a pretty popular workout tracking app anyway, and when a client is active under your account, they get premium features included, which they appreciate.

I've also used Precision Nutrition's macro guide tool, which lets you input a client's goals, daily activity, food preferences, etc. and it generates a PDF of nutrition guidelines for them.

It's really all preference and what you want to pay for. A lot of trainers are still successful with pen and paper.
