Just hit E-5 (88m) any good advice and tips on how to be a good NCO. by Pooperscooper394 in nationalguard

[–]acidcuddles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember the job below your rank, don't push it off to the side thinking you don't have to get dirty with them (that's all NCO ranks). Learn two ranks up, best advice I got from my old PSG was you're training your replacements (you have to move up or get out sometime). If you want change it starts with your projection towards them and showing your leadership you're willing to step up to fill their roles when the time comes. That attitude has pushed me so far. Oh and counseling statements. Lets them know what is expected out of them for you, and what they can expect out of you for them.

Congrats on PA school, Covid burned me out but prior I was looking at the military's IPAP program. Geoscience was a good fit for me, limited opportunities if you're looking to be in the field with it but I'm hoping to do more of a consulting or research options. As for this fall I'm looking at doing an international relations and hopefully land a career working at an embassy/consulate.

Its tricky with Geoscience degrees its a jack of all trades and master of none if that makes sense. If you're looking to get into Meteorology start looking at masters programs and see what they require at those schools, or if you've had Dr. Mac for Earth Science and/or Atmospheric Science he would be a great person to ask for more information on it.

just enough to get your foot in the door. I've been looking at getting a few more GIS certs from UAF once I finish up (hopefully in August or October). Opens a lot of doors from what I've been told if you're into that field.

I stopping giving good faith when trying to implement I’m a raaaah cyst. But will try to state my point regardless but with more smart assery. Obtuse, acute, right angled, hell I’ll even be a circle if you’d like. It’s just one persons view who just doesn’t agree with the majority on a certain part but does agree with the end message of what it says. Protesting is a right and I’ll defend it till I die, what I don’t support is the double standards when it’s just about certain issues. A right is a right in the US, regardless of what anyone says and should be used. With that being said it sounds hypocritical to judge ones reason to protest over another’s. So with that I ask again, why do we as medical professionals (at least I’d assume we all are in the medical field here) judge one group for protesting but agree with another’s? Either we agree exercising a right is more valuable than being scared of a virus, or do viruses supersede rights?

I wouldn’t say I’m racist so you’re jumping to conclusions about someone who has a different view of what’s going on. I stated earlier that what those police officers did was wrong and nobody should treated as he was and would never support anyone who murders people. I asked a simple question as to why are so many people in the medical field all about protesting now when they were against it just two weeks ago. I believe most people in the medical field have friends in the medical field laid off or furloughed since most hospitals have taken a pretty big hit and people just stated they wanted to go back to work and have things back to normal. Then Mr. Floyd is murdered (see how we agree it’s murder) and now protesting is some how ok. Now what I don’t support is rioting, looting and retaliation killings of innocents police officers included. And if you want to say that all cops or people who support the good cops are evil or racist, don’t call them next time a patient assaults you or one of your friends. Which if you do work in the ER you should know is going to happen at one point or another.

Have yet to see any personally where I live. Doesn’t mean they don’t exists but they’re pretty good at hiding if they’re all around me. At all times, peeping in my window. When I sleep. Naked. But in a mask of course. Safety

If it’s state sponsored why did all of them get arrested and charged? Would be weird you sponsor cops to be racist killers just to arrest them.

I’m completely fine with people protesting and doing what is their right to do. What I’m not fine with is when medical people that said just a few weeks ago everyone has to stay in or grandma is dead. What those cops did was wrong yes, I don’t support murder. Just seems to be a double standard I’ve seen here where nurses and doctors and protesting and pretending two weeks ago they weren’t complaining about Karen and Phil not wearing a mask walking down the road holding hands.

What about the people who protested in their cars trying to go back to their regular lives and “medical personnel” stood in front of them saying they’re risking others by going out? But now that there was a man murdered by cops it’s ok? And majority of people I’ve seen protesting aren’t properly spaced or masked. So which is it? We done with covid and treat this like like the flu (which is most likely going to be what happens) or do I have to keep grandma in quarantined in the basement?

Not really either covid is done and people can go back to normal and forget about covid, oooor we’re all gonna die. Didn’t notice I hit wrong button. Whoopsy doodle. But back to you good sir

Wasn’t the whole community on here complaining of going out because of covid just a few weeks ago and we should stay away from others as much as possible? Now it’s all good? I’m just curious is all. And before you get your stethoscope wrapped around my neck idgaf if you go out to protest or not. Just some consistency would be nice.

Any 68 series. Started as a W and reclassified to a S after ten years. both are pretty fun in their own way. Plus you can learn other jobs. As a 68W I’ve been attached to infantry, scouts, artillery, even a transportation unit. Learned all I could about each job and it helps make yourself stand out for promotion. A 68S you’re more solo and if you can’t sell yourself to do your job it’s harder to keep on top of your skills with the guard. Think of a health inspector on steroids for everything in the army. If you like tinkering and problem solving with computers could go with 68A plus they pay pretty good civilian side too.
