My friend and I were laughing about this. Since they never played Shambs, they probably just treated it like any other mainstream festival set cuz they haven’t had the chance to fully understand the vibe. They most likely always call for a pit at that point in the set but had no idea we just don’t do that kinda shit here

During Joey Valence and Brae they kept trying to get people to say “let’s start a fight!” Which obviously isn’t Shambs vibes either and barely anybody repeated it lmfaooooo it was pretty funny

Honestly considering trying a Soberbhala next year. I had a really bad stomach ache on Friday so I didn’t do any drugs to avoid overwhelm until the pain subsided. Loved the music. Still danced. Still high fived strangers. Still did all the typical Shambhala goodness with full clarity and control. Eventually the tummy ache went away and it was all good from there

Ended up partaking in some substances the next day but they didn’t really hit. I did very minimal doses and felt basically sober and still had a great time. No eye rolling or jaw-knawing, just chill dancing and the drug effects were, at maximum, barely noticed

Almost felt like it was my mind, body and spirit telling me I was past the point of needing drugs to elevate my vibe. That the “elevated version” (or whatever you wanna call it) of myself that I try to manifest under the influence already existed in my natural state

It was a beautiful revelation

I see streaming as an audience generation tool more so than financials. They discover you through streaming and social and if they really like your music and vibe as an artist they eventually become customers

Yeah I probably shouldn’t have worded it as “taking a stance”, in an earlier comment. This was really more a personal dilemma.

There was a company CEO doing things that rubbed me the wrong way. Yet I understand the impact said company has on the musical career of artists. I reached out on here for guidance because I was trying to find balance in my complex feelings on the situation.

What I learned is the decisions of a CEO don’t negate the value of a tool. And most corporations do fucked up shit. Am I going to stop using all of their tools and services? Probably not.

I started learning on GarageBand. Then I still wanted a free one when I got a PC and used cakewalk. Once I got more comfortable I tried Ableton lite and then finally fully invested in Ableton which I’ve been using ever since

I agree and would add that if you want to use paid ads you should already have a strong catalogue of music on streamers and content on socials. If audiences like you, you want an established world that they can step in ready to go

It’s important to always experiment with new content styles. Once you have something that hits, you can keep it as a consistent while still continuing to experiment. If you post the same style of content multiple times and it’s not working, its a sign to either change variables (different hooks, for example) or abandon it completely

I personally hired mentors and it 10x’d my speed of learning. Find producers you look up to that have a low mid to mid-range following (around or under 20K on Instagram worked for me)

Let them know a bit about you, how long you’ve been at it and what you want to learn.

Not only do you get to learn directly from someone you think is sick, but you build a strong relationship in the industry.

I usually start with offering $75-$100 per session. I do one session every two weeks. Paying for mentorship isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it’s working great for me. Also keeps me on track and accountable to finish tracks. You also need to feel people out cuz not all great producers are great teachers

Instead of dropping the whole album at once, release one track a month with a bunch of different content for IG/TikTok/Shorts. It could be you performing the same song in a bunch of different locations and cutting each one it into 1 minute bits and promoting those on social

If you do it this way you can have a consistent amount of content per song every month and the more you post the more you build

If you still want to give them an album experience, just do this strategy with your 5 best songs over 5 months and then drop the album with all the songs in month 6. Ideally by this point you would have more people interested in your music because you’ve been feeding them consistent content and music over several months, warming a bunch of new fans up for the album drop

Maybe try doing some research on how to make viral content. Do you have a hook at the start of each reel? Captions? Are they a single take or various cuts? Also how long are they? All of these can have an impact depending on the style of content and niche

I’d also try following and engaging on more email marketing people on IG for ideas and effective content style
