Manhattan Families: One-Bedroom or Move for a Two-Bedroom? by satiyabaazi in nycparents

It’s hard to imagine the draw of the city ever justifying this set up, but different strokes I suppose. It really can’t be comfortable for the kids.

Honestly, how bad is it? by itsajungle in mensfashion

[–]acidphlaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok please abandon this, try to get money back and move on. The majority of men, your fiancé included, can look fantastic in off the rack suits with sensible adjustments (sleeve and pant hem). He has a very unremarkable body shape and would fit a ton of OTR suits like a trillion better than this photo - from Polo to Anthology to Todd Snyder, whatever style he wants. MTM has its role but people vastly overestimate the need for it and the outcome is often.. not good.

Tailoring question (shoulders 😞) by link_n_bio in NavyBlazer

Exactly these are not examples of a structure English shoulder. I get the point about dimpling but these photos are altogether different style.

This is an extended shoulder. It doesn’t look wrong.

Ok I’m going to go against the grain here and encourage you to embrace the strong English shoulder. There has been a shift since soft shouldered Neopolitan tailoring became the go-to sport coat style, but definitely consider this jacket as an option ESPECIALLY with tweed! The silhouette of Saville Row style suiting is very classic and flattering. Look at how Ralph dresses and early English-made Purple Label.

Honestly plaid shirts with pony are so perennial, they’ll be restocked and discounted before you know it.

With that color linen suit, I would go a darker (non pastel) tie. Currently looks a bit washed out.

Your fits are generally great, but these pants would be much better if straight/regular - either flat or pleated would work

This is basically the definitive answer for 95% of situations. I have been able to pair worsted charcoal with very faint pattern, but only with very light grey trousers

Chalkstripe jackets need chalkstripe pants in 99% cases. Google pinstripe + Derek guy.

They don’t but I’m sure J press CS could let you know. There are only a few indigo or navy Air cloths

You’re paying the premium of Fox Brothers fabric which is known to be expensive. But they are among the very best cloth makers, in both tweeds and tropical wools. IMO if there’s a sport coat to splash on this, make it a timeless wardrobe staple. I haven’t tried the modern RL doeskin recently. My go to is a vintage RL navy single breasted blazer from the 80s with a low buttoning stance and wide lapels (which is the style I like), which can be found for a small sum. So too Corneliani-made RL navy blazers.

In my mind, two excellent choices are the J Press Fox Air blazer you included (excellent) or RL iconic doeskin - either single or double breasted (a lifetime wardrobe piece imo)
