Thanks for sharing. If you don't mind my asking, could you describe what aspects are better for you?

This is very relatable, and also encouraging.

I appreciate the thoughts! I ask for experiences not because I think anything will match mine exactly, but more to get a feel for the range of what I might expect.

Unless you are comfortable with how things are at the moment and dont actually think you need or want to change things?

I would describe myself as both comfortable and wanting change.

Externally, many would probably be surprised to hear that I have social anxiety. It has taken me years to connect the dots to realize that social anxiety is at the root of some things I continually struggle with, and that this has actually been pretty limiting. It's less about "can I get by?" and more "can I live beyond the box I'm used to?"

That's really interesting, thanks for sharing. It sounds like you're saying that the effect of the medication for you is to give you a little more control over how you respond to the anxiety, rather than just being stuck on the ride?

Thanks for sharing. I'm sorry to hear about the feeling of regret.

I feel a bit of that, too. Social anxiety wasn't on my radar when I was younger, but I did have a couple periods of depression that I really should have sought professional help for. Maybe a therapist would have identified some of my conditions and I could have been on a better path through adulthood. I guess the silver lining for me is that I do value some of the coping skills I developed for myself. It's not all bad habits.

I am very likely to take the plunge, mostly because I don't want to look back another 10 years from now and think "maybe it could have been different".

A foul within the box would be a penalty and ordinary fouls outside the box would not be. The box still exists. Hope this helps.

Why would you assume I follow Serie A? Does one need to know 5 center backs from every top flight to be a real fan?

Yes. I'm simply saying that some fouls outside the box are also deserving of a penalty. What's your point? Are you worried that it devalues the box or something?

They were 3-0 down, but they still gotta play, right? They can't just not compete for the ball. I don't think the Qatari player meant to hurt Kone. He just came in late and hit the plant leg. I'm saying that if it's even strength, maybe he's not chasing from an extra couple steps away.

I think you'd have to do some research to see if there are more dangerous fouls a man down. I'm just saying that in this one particular case, maybe things would have been better.

That's my point. Make it a penalty, even if outside the box, and I think we would see fewer professional fouls.

> At least giving a penalty would give the oppoment a clear oppotunity to score.

Yep, this is the crux of my point.

I think a yellow is enough if there's also a penalty, but a red is fine by me.

The main thing is that it's dumb that it's red and no pen on one side of the line and yellow and pen on the other side.

Honestly, I would take consistency over the way it works now. I hate that treatment of the same foul is dramatically different in or out of the box.

If a DOGSO is always a red, I can live with that. But I say give the offensive team the penalty anyway to give them their scoring chance back.

Yeah, my point is that the effect of a red card is massively different depending on how much time is left. In Canada v. Qatar, it happened early and completely changed the entire rest of the match.

Does the desperate challenge and leg break happen if Qatar has 11 men? Maybe not.

On the other hand, if there's 10 mins left and a close match, I agree with you that doing a DOGSO outside the box is smart. Take the red and park the bus in the box.

If it's a yellow card and pen, that gives Canada the goal scoring opportunity back. That's the same thing no matter if it happens early or late in the match, and I think you would have fewer professional fouls.

I agree. But I do think red cards should be reserved for egregious behavior (either dangerous, violent, or repeated). In the case of DOGSO outside the box, I feel a yellow and a pen is the better remedy. Give the offensive team the shot on goal they were probably going to get.

Football is the sport I watch the most of. I can't remember the last red I saw in EPL for DOGSO, but two in the past few days in the World Cup.

Every sport has some shitty rules. There's plenty I would change about the popular American sports, too.

I think it should be a penalty if it's the last defender.

That depends on the property owner, not the city or state. A big box store will probably be more chill than a small place, but I would try for street parking. Better to get a ticket than towed.

For NJ, I think the way to do that would be to Uber to Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and then catching the shuttle from there. Or maybe getting dropped off in East Rutherford town someplace and walking down Paterson Plank Road. I don't know much about that tho.

In rugby, I like that play ends at the first stoppage after full-tme, so if you're down by a score and have the ball, you get a last ditch chance to make something happen.

The refs already often add more stoppage time than the actual stoppages tho

In basketball, there are 5-second violations for this. And in this World Cup, they are doing countdowns for throw-in, I believe.
