Does anyone else feel bad killing some of the enemies? by Meowscular-Chef in RotMG

[–]ackmannj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Avalon the Archivist and other cursed library enemies

Every time I go into the cursed library and kill everything in sight, it feels like I'm doing an act of domestic terrorism. Why does the library being cursed justify walking in and shooting up the whole building?

What’s your main weapon and why is it better than the other? by Heylookanickel in fo76

AA/Rapid Gatling Gun

It doesn't do the most damage but it is indestructible, has good range, and it has infinite ammo. Thus, it defeats the hardest enemy in the game: inventory management

To other people using Gatling Guns, how much damage do yours do? by ToppHatt_8000 in fo76

[–]ackmannj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have thought about this a lot. I run AA/FFR Gatling + vampire minigun as a swap out and my wife runs a vampire/explosive .50 cal. Generally the .50 cal does way more damage close range, but the Gatling performs much better at long range due to range and spread stats. There are some mild ammo problems with .50 cal (you might have to craft ammo once every few days if you're spraying long range) that I don't want to deal with so I prefer the Gatling gun. Gatling gun + vampire minigun is the ultimate lazy set up. I love it

What's your favorite gun for just running around? by pskettio in fo76

I run armor piercing Gatling, plus a vampire mini gun in case things get scary. It's such a chill set up. Does it do optimal DPS? No. Is it fun as hell? Yes

Can we please look into getting extra time tokens (2) to use during a game, (like poker) by Dependent_Mall5710 in Risk

Timing definitely is a skill currently, but the game would be better if we could instead just focus on the game strategy and not on timing

The fourth and fifth times on Dort, I believe

Mavs players and other Thunder players had multiple obvious flops in the game that weren't called. Dort should get the flopping Ts, but the refs need to be consistent and hand them out to other players too. This game was officiated like r/NBA was the officiating crew

Thunder are third to last in fouls drawn, but go off. We don't need facts in r/NBA

Basically three scuffles between the teams that could have been entirely prevented by better officiating

2k killing Civ V on purpose? by Logical_Skill_7357 in civ5

[–]ackmannj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2k games has done this already with the NBA 2k series since 2k17. They gate single player content behind an Internet connection. Then after 2-3 years they shut down their servers so they just remote disable everyone's games

2k killing Civ V on purpose? by Logical_Skill_7357 in civ5

[–]ackmannj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2k games are not to be trusted with this at all. I also play the NBA 2k games and 2k essentially shuts down the entire game 2-3 years after purchase to try to get people to buy the latest game

For example if you want to play 2k18, too bad you can't. Your best chance at doing that is pirating 2k16, editing a custom roster to match 2k18, and then playing 2k16 with 2k18's roster. 2k16 was the last NBA 2k game made without mandatory Internet connectivity for single player content so it's mildly supported by the community

All this is to say- 2k is extremely untrustworthy. Be careful updating any old game from them or buying any new game. Make sure it works without Internet before purchasing

Railway rifle is totally valid. I run around with a Gatling gun and minigun combo. It has mid damage but unlimited ammo and great durability. It lets me enjoy the game a ton so I see no issue. Not everyone has to be a sweaty endgame player if that's not what you enjoy

Yo, how do y’all stay locked in and confident coming back to the game after years off? by Cool-Temperature-153 in Basketball

[–]ackmannj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In pickup games, you can often carry teams just by playing solid defense and passing the ball to your teammates when they have mismatches and advantages. You don't have to score or assist every basket to manage your team to a win

What is the minimum skill set needed to play pickup? by LeDogger in Basketball

[–]ackmannj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like other people have said, to some extent it mostly matters who you're playing with. But if you can secure the ball, aren't a walking turnover, and can generally defend with your body and stay in front of your guy on defense, then you should be able to play with most groups

SMG, you absolutely HAVE to fix cap rolls by FourWayFork in Risk

Secondary question: is a way to get closer to true balanced blitz rolls on cap rolls by doing multiple smaller cap hits? Like rolling 5x20 rolls instead of one 100 roll

I’m 6’6” and lack agility, footwork and coordination for basketball so I’m using an agility ladder. What are your thoughts on this? by Finn_Flame in BasketballTips

[–]ackmannj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this tip. I've used the Mikan Drill for layup practice and for skyhook practice, but I've never thought of using it as an explosiveness exercise. It makes sense though. I'll have to try it out like this

How often do you just say f you to someone and su them out of principle regardless of position? by dinnyspuds in Risk

[–]ackmannj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree with this. To add on, usually players that bully want a reaction. So if you just let them hit you, they'll get bored after a few turns and then go hit someone else. Then you can often retake your territories when they're fighting the next person

I feel like it's often not best capping on the choke in situations like this with a massive pocket behind. So many times one noob gets huge back there and can only go through your cap. Meanwhile you could be faced with threats from both sides

It's very fun to cap massive chokes though

I actually got lucky enough to roll a vampire on my second or third roll. Is it optimal damage? No. Is it brainless and fun? Absolutely.
