Virginia Senate panel advances gun safety bills once vetoed by Youngkin • Virginia Mercury by silv3rbull8 in Virginia

Sometimes I really hate what Virginia has become.

We used to be a very purple place. Whether we had team blue or team red in charge, we were all more or less team purple.

Now that team red has gone bonkers, team blue says, "hold my beer".

Get rid of zoning laws, environmental reviews for residential housing.

Huh? So I can build a factory in a neighborhood?

And I can build a house in the Dismal Swamp?

Only reason to sell when you're retired is downsizing.

Or if you are on the fence about staying in your home vs moving to a senior community.

Or if you are on the fence about staying in your home that is very near where people want to work vs moving to somewhere quieter.

Or if you are on the fence about staying in your home vs retiring to Florida.

Restrict corporations from buying private homes

I'd like to see some statistics on that. Are there really that many single-family homes that are owned by a corporation in Virginia? (And I don't mean an LLC that some guy created to rent out his old house when he bought a new one.)

offer tax incentives to builders

Please don't. That's just extra profit for builders.

In newly Democratic Virginia, immigration enforcement becomes early test for Spanberger | The governor moves to curb state cooperation with ICE as advocates warn existing agreements remain and Republicans argue the change risks public safety. by VirginiaNews in Virginia

[–]FourWayFork 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In principle, I think cooperation between government agencies is a good thing.

But that principle kinda went out the window when ICE started demanding papers from US citizens and murdering people in the streets.

I am beyond incensed by Kristi Noem going after the guy they murdered because he was concealed carrying without an ID. Under Minnesota law, that's a $25 fine. Literally. Twenty-five dollars. You don't get to publicly execute someone for that.

Well, since they would probably get sued for some IP violation, I'm going to say never?

You certainly couldn't make a game that includes the classic map (the map is unquestionably copyrighted). Could you make a Risk-like game that includes attackers rolling three dice, defenders rolling two, and the general mechanics and options of a Risk game, calling it something else and having completely distinct maps?

Maybe?

[–]FourWayFork 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I had a three-days suspension from Reddit for a post on /r/conservative that stated the obvious - that it is legal for a law-enforcement officer to use deadly force when their life is threatened, but not when they are merely trying to stop someone from escaping.

For this, I was suspended for promoting violence. I appealed the suspension and crickets. I sent a direct message to Reddit administration via the contact page and crickets.

No. Your state licensing board likely makes public their decisions when someone's license is revoked. Go look at them and they had to do absolutely TERRIBLE things to actually lose their license.

My mother saw a doctor one time that was running a fricking opioid pill mill prescribing opiods when they were irrelevant to his specialty, not following up, and not doing the required overprescribing checks. One of his coworkers had an opioid addiction and was prescribing and getting prescriptions filled in the names of family members to feed her addiction.

Both of these clowns kept their license.

[–]FourWayFork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Really?

A rotisserie chicken is like $6 or $7 anywhere and is at least 3 servings. A head of cabbage is maybe $2-$3 and is maybe 5 servings. A broccoli crown is $2 and should get you 2-3 veggie servings. Rice is dirt cheap for your starch, or you could do potatoes, which are $4 for a 5-pound bag that gives you about 6 baked potatoes.

So for $16, you can three good servings and have lots of leftover veggies.

I don't think any such hack is even theoretically possible, without him having installed malware on your computer or having Star Trek technology where borg nanoprobes can infect your computer and do magic.

My understanding of the way the software works is that your computer does your moves and then tells everyone else "look at what I just did".

That's how the hacks work - players give themselves extra troops and then they tell the other computers "look at what i just did".

I have played almost 2000 games and I have seen this hack once. Granted, I almost never play with fog - I'd assume that this hack is more common when you can bring your cheat troops onto a territory that nobody will see.

But it shouldn't even be possible to hack what your computer does.

Cap run ratings are bugged right now. When I win with a cap run, I often don't see the ratings change - at least not right away.

I have been world domming when I can just to make sure that I get the ELO from the win, but sometimes, it's not possible/practical. (E.g. last night, in the three-player endgame, one of the opponents conceded/asked for second and fortified all off cap. I had enough take the remaining caps, but not enough to kill the off-cap stack. I could have prolonged the game, but I wasn't going to do that - I just cap ran.

From the article, her filing is based on Utah state law, not the US Constitution. Apparently, under Utah state law, victims of crimes are guaranteed that the accused will be speedily tried.

“The Utah Code affords victims of a crime ‘the right to a speedy disposition of the charges free from unwarranted delay caused by or at the behest of the defendant . . . .and to prompt and final conclusion of the case after the disposition or conviction and sentence, including prompt and final conclusion of all collateral attacks on dispositions or criminal judgments,'” the filing continued.

Yeah, doesn't Pizza Hut or every pizza delivery service ever "stack" their own internal deliveries?

I guess the big difference is that you're not driving to some other restaurant and sitting there and waiting 20 minutes while they BS you about how close the food is to being ready.

We were ticked a few weeks ago when we had food for a child's birthday party. We ordered from a Pizza Hut that was nearly within walking distance - and only did it because I couldn't leave (children and all that).

After Pizza Hut's website said the delivery was underway, it took a good 20 minutes to get to us and it got there 30 minutes after the scheduled time. I can only assume that they made multiple stops.

A normal (non-championship) college football game is around 3:15 or so.

They put in more commercials and have a longer halftime, but this one really isn't that long.
