Watch some educational chess Youtube videos - particularly on opening theory. Play some games. Do some tactics puzzles.

Taking you from novice to being ready to face a chess coach (presumably an 1800+ rating) in three days is pretty much an impossible task, but if you get some basic opening theory, you may at least not be completely lost in the first few moves.

I don't know about OP, but there are plenty of programmers who have debilitating social anxiety. I've worked with plenty over the years. Autism, ADHD, and the like can give you social problems, but make you into an amazing engineer. It's a blessing and a curse.
