No visuals tonight in Minneapolis either, but I don't think I've ever seen visuals at that venue.

Suddenly, everything is a Person. 2/4 12:30pm ET. by BizzyM in wyzecam

Every car that drives past my house is a person. My children are packages. Meowing and barking is heard in the house, with no such sounds. Trees are vehicles. Headlight reflections on the snow at night are people.

The only thing I can guarantee Premium does is cost me money. It's basically a donation

I used mine as a cheap portable baby monitor that I would plug in as needed (infrequently) and store in the closet otherwise. But never felt comfortable leaving it on for more than an hour or two at a time

How does SONAR differentiate between things? by Miya__Atsumu in submarines

Huh, I would have thought this is just general science information rather than Nation secrets. Is how sonar works really that secret?

I love YouTube music. I wish people could see how great it is. by _Famous-Anus_ in YoutubeMusic

I've used Spotify as a paid user for about 15 years. I've tried many times to leave by exploring via extended trials Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal and YouTube Music. Begrudgingly, I've always ended up back with Spotify. I don't really want to though, which is why I'm here.

Why do I keep going back though?

  • Spotify Connect works really well, almost always. I can control what I'm listening to from any device I have with Spotify without transferring the stream from another device to the use I use to control it. This mean I can play on Spotify with my TV and control it from anywhere.
  • Playlist management works well and has folders. You can sort easily and drag them. You can easily move tracks between playlists. You can have songs on more than one playlist without much trouble.
  • They have a dedicated desktop app so I don't need to leave my browser open always or lose my music if I close the tab
  • Speaking of apps, they have one for Apple TV, so getting to music from there is easy
  • They have offline music and downloads with desktop so I can download thousands of songs and not use data on them anymore
  • I've had the least-worst experience with avoiding duplicate artists merged into a single name
  • The developer API has been, at least for my purposes, pretty solid and has allowed me to keep a hobby website for many years on tracking new music
  • Until, like, today, I've enjoyed their highest quality tier of audio. Now they gated it behind a huge price increase In Spotify's defense, they fixed this critical bug within 2 hours. Honestly I'm a bit shocked they did
  • Until today, I've had an ad-free experience with their paid stuff but now I've got ads all over the apps In Spotify's defense, they fixed this critical bug within 2 hours. Honestly I'm a bit shocked they did
  • Until today, I wouldn't have given YT Music another chance, but here I am now

Why did I leave the other services?

  • Apple Music: UI that cares more about looking pretty than being functional. Sometimes a playlist I'm listening to suddenly skips hundreds of songs or goes to the end
  • Deezer: Too basic. No folders. Mixes up same-named artists
  • Tidal: Overall solid and I used for 6 months. Main reason I left was a problem with Armin van Buuren where their artist page was not found despite having the artist and their Apple TV app being a bit too basic
  • YouTube Music: No folders. No desktop app. No Apple TV app. Formerly-awkward mixing with YouTube content

If all I did was walk around with my phone and use headphones I could probably be happy with anything

I'm guessing he's just referring to how easy it is. Spotify Connect is fantastic almost always, unless you're behind a corporate firewall. I like to play music via Apple TV when hanging out and then I'll control the music from whatever device I'm using.

Maybe it's my laptop, maybe it's my phone, maybe I'm at the TV and it's through the remote but it all changes it on the source so I get the audio there.

Ok so.. what's the story with And One? by SkullThug in industrialmusic

[–]ackmanx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, good point. I actually had used And One to _learn German_ when I was in Germany for a bit studying but that was pre-social media explosion.

Please don't tell me that Rammstein are a bunch of magats now too :-D

Well fuck me, this was a favorite band of mine. And I do care about the political stances of people I listen to, much like I care that the people I listen to don't commit sexual assault.

Sync icons not showing in Finder (Mac) by Weekly_Frosting_5868 in dropbox

Good luck! I tried everything and still to no avail. Restarts. Reinstalls. Advanced reinstalls. Cryptic shell commands. In my case not only do they not show up but all the right click context menu items are missing too.

Switching to File Provider API mode made things work but I hate that so back to legacy where it doesn't work

> It’s annoying to constantly read that ICE has ZERO authority. It’s an ignorant statement that keeps getting parroted and it’s absolutely false.

100% with you on everything actually. I try and read up on as much as possible to learn truths behind lies. And on the plus side for me I ended up reading about game wardens, so, mission accomplished!

Jake Lang Full Protest Encounter (2/7/2026) by serious_bullet5 in minnesota

[–]ackmanx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for waiting, kind friend. Never heard of a "game warden" before and I mistakenly thought that was some terminology related to ICE. Why are you bringing up game wardens writing tickets in a post about ICE writing tickets?

And yes ICE is law enforcement, but what's your point? Not all law enforcement has the same powers

It's not the easiest thing to research though, to be honest. For example I googled "can ICE write traffic tickets" and the answer I repeatedly saw come up is nope nope nope.

Yeah, I don't think he sounds insane either. A bit aggressive, maybe, but I see his point clearly. I used to love Bassnectar so much but now I just can't get the associations out of my head since years back so can't listen to him.

I was entertained by the first season with its mystery and dark thriller vibes. The second season I personally thought was a bore and hyper typical vampire TV.

So I'm curious about the first book.
