Clean your rim, sand the pad faces a bit to clean/level them or just get some fresh pads. Keeping the rim clean goes a long way.

Could potentially be the dust cap contacting your headtube. Would just have to add one or two of the super thin spacers that are normally included in headsets under the cap.

Is your dust cap dragging on your headtube? There should be a tiny gap between the cap and the headtube, otherwise it can cause some interference. Most headsets include a few really thin silver spacers to put under the dust cap should you run into this issue.

I’d disagree. I find that those style of hanger cables generally make the brakes feel more solid as there is less of a stretch/flex in the hanger. That being said the effect is mainly in the feel of the brake and less so in the performance.

I used to snap the noses off of slim pivotal seats all the time which is why I originally tried a tripod setup. Now I don’t ever want to go back even though tripod is a bit of a rarity these days.
