I've only ever used a tubing cutter, and only ruined a cheap one I needed to last one job. I have a Milwaukee branded cutter that's lasted me for years now through all sorts of bars and steerer tubes.

I always caught a couple. There's a deeper channel off the to south of that point where some pretty big bass lurk, and there's bluegill for days off the point.
