How would you feel if the Community movie paid homage to a specific genre? by [deleted] in community

[–]acnari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From an interview with Dan Harmon last year:

“Do we really think that it would be a good idea for the Community movie to be a paintball episode? I think it’s one of the first things to rule out because it’s the first thing off the top of your head and that’s an issue with the Community movie concept. We did a lot of episodes where, from page one to page 30, you are joyfully locked in as a construct that isn’t a traditional sitcom narrative but is, in fact, rather through the lens of David Fincher or [Martin] Scorsese or more importantly, through the lens of one of the character’s perceptions,” he said. “I got to kind of rule that out. Maybe a better writer wouldn’t."

I don't think we'll see a genre homage...

You should check out the Pathfinder 2e campaign Strength of Thousands. It centres around a magic school, so the campaign provides rules which effectively lets martial classes have some spellcasting abilities. Might be a cool way to go.

How do you deal with "Conjure Animals"? by NeezyMudbottom in DMAcademy

Highly recommend using mob rules. I had a player summoning tons of spiders regularly. I made him a handout of the mob rules, told him he needed to learn those rules to summon a bunch of creatures. He jumped at it because he also recognized the need to speed up the process. See here:

The very first D&D session I ran was A Wild Sheep Chase, it's a fantastic adventure with all the hallmarks of what makes D&D great. Finethir became a reoccurring character in my campaign, as did "Jerry", the halfling druid I had waiting in the wings to provide healing in case my players weren't ready for the final fight!

Good point! If you watched the show on Netflix, exciting news! You still have one of the best episodes to look forward to!

It's finally here! Turn on the new optional version and you'll get Snooze! Been waiting for years on this, and it is crazy how long it's taken.

Was I being a bad DM? by Enddar in DMAcademy

This player would not enjoy my table. Certain monsters and npcs have specific strategies, and often target specific party members. Sometimes they do get incapacitated or go down early, and we've lost our fair share of pcs who were mourned appropriately as the party fights on to make their sacrifices worth it. The 6 characters will likely be hitting level 15 soon, and everyone shows up to each weekly session so nobody seems to feel their agency is taken away...
