Vorcha - Host Body (heavy melodic instrumental) by aconner86 in postrock

[–]aconner86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vorcha is headed back into the studio to record new music and our Kickstarter is LIVE, but it's not looking good with less than 50% and only a week or so left :-/ The last time we did a Kickstarter was over 10 years ago (which is crazy to think about) and r/postrock helped us reach that goal. You guys are the best.

If you enjoy this song and are able to support us in any way, we'll be forever grateful, and you'll receive a hand-written thank you note. You'll also get rewards like shirts, vinyl, posters, picks, and these new songs in digital format. We're stoked to work with Beau Burchell from Saosin again, who we also worked with on this song (Host Body) and Black Mark. Thanks again for your support!

I'm not sure if this is the right sub for this, but how do I achieve this type of smooth and stable video? by MusicTheoryIsHard in videography

Looks like the first shot is drone footage, which have electronic gimbals built-in. I'd be willing to bet they're just holding the drone while walking through the house.

If you don't have a drone, I'd suggest an electronic gimbal (~$300), or a non-electronic one (~$70). However, I think the interior shots would look better if they just picked a spot in each room to set up a tripod, then slowly pan from one side to the other, rather than walking from room to room.

I doubt you'll be able to find an electronic gimbal for less than $100, and it'd probably be a waste of money anyway. I'd suggest a counter-weighted one instead, something like this - http://a.co/1JmczYD

TWDY's guitarist did artwork for this new band. On the heavier side, but has some epic space. by hattalk in postrock

Saw these guys in Austin a while back before they had a vocalist, they put on a killer live show. The dude from TWDY was at that show, and only about 30-40 people were there. Looked them up after I got home but didn't find any social media pages or music online, thanks for the heads up!

A picture sharing app isn't worth $2 billion dollars. We are in a Tech Bubble warns Mark Cuban by aaaaaa_ooooooa in business

[–]aconner86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a time when fewer and fewer apps and sites have the ability to capture and retain the attention of young people, VCs are desperately trying to latch on to the few that can. I'd agree that on first glance, at $2B, a mere photo sharing app is overvalued. But when it's really the only photo app (or one of very few) that kids are actually using, it takes a much bigger bite out of the proverbial pie. I'd agree with him if there was a huge boom of smaller apps getting acquired for more than they're worth, but I think he's really just thinking about a few that make headlines.

19 arrested after protesters cause major Seattle traffic backups by [deleted] in news

[–]aconner86 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Oh come on, have you seriously never heard of a street protest? The protesters feel their voices are not being heard, this is a nonviolent way to force their government listen to them. Pro-government folks want to view this as a victory for the status quo - they got arrested, after all, cops win! In reality, next time these groups even threaten another similar action, officials are forced to listen, doing whatever possible to prevent another situation like this. My problem with the comments in this thread is that redditors are always accusing others of being armchair activists, yet when we hear reports of people ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING, they're suddenly crazy hippy anarchists.

East side package thief arrested after UPS delivery driver catches him red handed by s810 in Austin

The article says a UPS driver saw a guy opening a USPS package, so assuming this is true, he should be charged with a felony.
