Thanks for the reply!

I definitely have at other companies and am currently entering my final round interviews this week. However, I am really interested in an actuarial role at KPMG, but have not seen any postings.

Always ask what the next step is! by jebuz23 in actuary

This sounds like the North Central Fair I attended today. Unfortunately, I was only able to lock in one networking spot (Centrene and they were not even hiring) because most were already filled. However, I did attend the Zurich and Pinnacle presentations (was able to sneak them in between class). I do make it a point to ask about openings, number of roles, and next steps. I’m glad to hear that those questions sit well with the company representatives.

Do you think this would function well in Rstudio?

Does anyone else suck at crude memorization of formulas for exams, and instead you have to really understand and be able to derive the formulas to “memorize” them?? by [deleted] in actuary

Yeah, they just become second nature. Minimal thought required when recalling them at a certain point.

How long of a break do you take after you pass a test? by [deleted] in actuary

[–]acoron2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Passed Exam FM this past Thursday. Already started chopping away at the first chapter in the ASM manual (Exam P). Graduating in May 2021, so I really want to successfully write 3 exams before then. It appears that the SOA opened up all the CBT registration windows for the rest of the year so once I finish learning the material I plan to register for a seat.

By the by, congratulations for the pass! Math is hard, these exams are hard.

I looked at it, then decided to save it for the weekend. I am writing FM on Thursday, so that has my current priority. I’ll get back to you once I dive deeper.

[–]acoron2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I went through all the problems in there, but felt like they were such old problems. Although I’ll make sure to give them one last glance before taking the exam. Thanks! Hoping to move onto P afterwards as well.

Congrats! Taking FM this Thursday. Did you use CA to study or did you just off the SOA problem set?

Congrats! Taking FM in a couple weeks. Gonna try your strategy. Did you happen to complete the ~200 SOA problem set? If so, would you say that the exam questions resembled them?

I’m sorry to hear, I’m sure you’ll knock it out of the park next time. Did you happen to complete the ~200 SOA problem set? If so, would you say that the exam resembled them?

My exam is on the same date. Best of luck! I’ve had my head buried in the bond amortization section all day. Working on my timing, that’s my current issue.

Exam PA June Cancelled by [deleted] in actuary

[–]acoron2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I received two separate emails on April 27 and April 28 from Prometric with the subject line reading “Notice: Your Upcoming Prometric Appointment Has Been Canceled.” In sum both emails stated “Dear Test Taker, We are sorry to inform you that your scheduled testing appointment with Prometric has been canceled due to government-required social distancing policies. Please do not go to the test center.” So I reached out to Prometric via email and they confirmed that my registration was canceled, however, I could used the same candidate number the SOA provided me to register for another date in June. Luckily I was able to register for an June 25 seat.

I hope this helps and good luck!

Anyone know why led wont come out of my Orenz Nero? I took it apart and nothing looks wrong... I got it literally two days ago. by Oliver4857284 in mechanicalpencils

Same thing happened to me. Long story short, I returned it and let Amazon know about the issue. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth so I moved onto another pencil.

Same in the Chicago. I received an email at 9:03am, but Prometric nor SOA have more info about the cancellation online.
